Advantages: Memory size, ease of use, reliability, appearance

Disadvantages: Dual-ended USB cable may be needed to make it work with older laptops

A lovely little gadget: smart, compact and light. It would be great for using to transport files between home, school, uni or office, or indeed anywhere else. However the massive disk size is also ideal for backing up your files. I have used it to store my entire music and photo collection back when the hard disk on my laptop was too small; since my old laptop died I have been using it to back up all my files. It offers great peace of mind - if your computer is stolen or damaged and any files or lost, you'll still have them on here.

The Passport is very easy to use: you plug it in and it is recognised by your computer. To transfer files use 'click and drag' or 'Send To'. After reading other reviews at various locations I didn't even bother to install the included software that purports to 'sync' your files, as it seemed too clunky and hard to use. However I don't find this a problem at all.

When I first got it, I had problems using it with my old laptop which was over 5 years old. The USB ports didn't have enough power to keep the Passport working properly, but luckily I had a dual-ended USB cable that had been supplied with my mobile broadband dongle (never thought I'd be saying 'thank you 3'!) which solved the problem. However, my laptop packed in shortly afterwards (thank goodness I had backed up all my files with this little gadget) and with my new laptop I've had no problems whatsoever.

I've had the Passport for nearly six months now and it's absolutely fine. I would definitely recommend it for reliability, ease of use and looks.
