Recently I decided to undertake the problematic task of upgrading my laptops hard drive, on the lookout for a cheap and cheerful hard drive I was recommended the Western Digital Scorpio Blue by a friend.
First impressions would good, for around £80 you get yourself 640GB of hard drive space via a Serial ATA-300 plug, this is common for most laptops so shouldn't be a problem though you should defiantly check before you go ahead and purchase yourself one. I did notice that it's only 5400 rpm which is fairly old consider 7200 and higher is becoming more of the norm but I was that bothered being that 5400 isn't exactly inefficient just slower.
Performance was great and a lot faster than my older hard drive, copying and moving files around is not *almost* instant and the OS even received a speed increase with the bootup time in particular enjoying a noticeable speed boost. The hard drive also features Shock Guard which halts the hard drive if it detects a sudden bump to protect against data loss so if your laptop falls of a table your only problem would be a broken laptop, not lost data.
All being said I'm very happy with the product; it's fast enough for me and has plenty of space that I haven't even got around to filling half of it yet. Another great hard drive from WD!
