Skullcandy Hesh
by barneybarringer
These headphones are excellent and certainly live up to the skull candy reputation for good sound, but also with price.
I use these headphones for my iPod and occasionally my computer. The quality of the sound does depend on how much iTunes compresses the files (making them take up less space but the quality decreases) however ... when the song are running and 320kps the sound is absolutely incredible and although the sound is still good when running at 120kps there is a vast difference.
This quality does come with a price however, but as these were my first ever headphones I did not have a lot of experience. For me it's not just about the sound quality but how they look and the durability. The headphones look very nice however on the other hand there is a kind of plastic feel and they don't feel like the housing is very well made.
Overall I would recommend these to a friend however if money is not an object I would go with some Sennheisers which are expensive but certainly deliver in sound, durability and look. Read the complete review |

JVC HA F140PN Gumy phones
by m_illie
I listen to music frequently and because I usually walk most places I like to have my headphones in attached my mp3 player so I can walk listening to songs I like. My preference in terms of headphones are for earbuds but ones that sit in the outer part of my ear rather than in the canal itself. I find that the latter give me headaches as ... the music I listen to sometimes sounds as though its echoing plus I listen to my music loud and find that these kinds of headphones blare out the music so that you can still hear it when someone around you is listening to it. I like to be courteous and so try to avoid this. Not to mention just for my comfort I think the former earbuds are more comfortable.
The shape of the headphones is a slightly pear-shaped drop which fits comfortably in the ear. They tend to fit snug without causing any rubbing and obviously not falling out. The material of the bud itself is a pretty standard plastic texture which is comfortable for use from time to time but I find if I keep them in for prolonged periods of time they do start to ache. They are made by JVC which is a pretty reliable brand and yet are still fairly cheap at around a fiver on Amazon.
The cable isn't very long at over 1m and so I have to place my mp3 in my top pocket so that it doesn't pull too tightly. By contrast, however, I would prefer the wire were not too slack as I'm prone to accidents and even tripping and snagging out the cable. The cable has a movable plastic tag which allows you to change the length from which the two wires split to lead to the left and right earbud. As I have to wind up the cable to store it I did find they became twisted in places although like some other headphones I've used they didn't split at the joining part so that the wires began to show.
The quality is fairly high and I can still listen to my music loud as I like. One issue is that the base is not overly clear although I happen to listen to music which isn't too bass heavy so while this isn't an issue for me it may be for those who listen to music genres dominant in this areas.
They come in a range of colours from plain black, yellow, white, violet, orange, blue, green, pink and red to select from. I like the variety and how they don't come in just the standard black or white which tends to come with mp3s.
Overall this is a product I would recommend especially at such a reasonable price and with lots of variety in colours. They last me fine whenever I use them even if they do become less comfortable after prolonged use. The fit is comfortable, they look colourful and attractive, and they do the job. Turtle Beach Ear Force X11 Headset
by NotMyToothbrush
My friend bought one of these last year and to be honest I do not understand why as he hardly ever games and the price tag puts off even I, who actually games far more frequently. There is no way I would ever pay about £100 for a headset no matter how good the quality of it is - However, I have to admit, it is pretty damn ... good!
I mostly play First Person Shooters (FPSs) and a high quality headset comes in very handily in these types of game as directional sound can really improve your gaming performance. This headset allows you to not only hear the slightest sound in perfect detail but also allows you to locate it with pinpoint accuracy using the variety of speakers within the earpiece.
The multi-directional sound system within this product can actually replace a 5.1 surround sound system However only one person can hear it - this can either be bad as you cannot enjoy the sound experience with friends and family unless they also have headsets or good as it means you can game into the dead of night without disturbing parents, siblings, partners etc...
I tried this headset once to watch a movie and although it does feel a little weird at first due to it feeling like an entirely new experience, I quickly got used to it and actually think I preferred it.
The build quality of the headset is mostly good. The earpieces feel solid and the cushioned headband is very comfortable and robust. I have no doubt that these parts of the Headset will last for years no matter who the owner is. However, the microphone seems a little flimsy. It sticks out from the main body of the headset via a fairly thin stalk which folds up and down. I was constantly afraid that this would break off if I put it down in the wrong place and it happened to get kicked or trodden on. Many of the Turtle Beach headsets now come with a very robust stalk which is as thick as the actual microphone end and therefore I feel a lot more at ease with this.
Speaking of the microphone...
As headsets allow you to talk via them too, lets review this!
I cannot confirm the quality of the output as obviously it is just the word of other people and the quality of their sound equipment will be a limiting factor. However, from what I have heard when my friend has spoken to me using it, the microphone is very good. There is no static or background noise whatsoever when using them which is something which annoys me so much with certain gamers online. I usually hear my friend's voice very well and we can easily have conversations online without any cutting out or low volume which once again can be issues with certain equipment.
