Will fall apart in 3 months (Apple iPod Earphones)

Anybody who's had an ipod for longer than 3 months will tell you the apple earphones won't last. To be fair, they provide quite good quality, with the music coming through refined and as clear as daylight. However, at £20 a pair I certainly won't be investing in a second pair of these. I was happy to use them when they came free with my new ipod, but 5 months on (and bare in mind I haven't thrown them about or stood on them, etc.) they were absolutely wrecked.
The price of a new pair is not subsidised enough by the quality. Unfortuantely (and especially for us students) buying a new pair of apple's fragile earphones just can't be justified. Considering I'd be buying a new pair in a couple of months, these have to be a serious thinking point for apple. Durability is an important factor when choosing headphones; so unless they're coming with your ipod, do yourself a favour and buy some long-lasting ones instead!
