Advantages: long life span, good quality
Disadvantages: Very expensive to replace
I would like to point out that these Apple iPod earphones are a bit of an improvement from the original version which to me seemed to be too cheap and angular. They are far sleeker and far more attractive that previous models and on top of this, the cable is longer! which is of huge important to me, I am not tall by any means but with the older models I found that I was needing to crouch forward slightly to aviod either of the earphones from falling our or digging into my ear, or worse from pulling out of my iPod disrupting my listening!
These new versions are or superb quality, even when taking them out of the packaging, mine were purchased complete with a 32GB 2g iTouch and the care taken i nthe packaging of these beauties is fantastic, Apple definitely made sure these earphones were made comfortable in the packaging they are perfectly wrapped and coiled, secured with a plastic coated metal twist. So from the very start we can see that they are not cheap.
Now ofcourse, and obviously the single most important thing about earphones is the sound quality. I mean what is the use of an expensive pair of designer (and lets all be honest, iPod headphones have become a fashion accessory) earphones if the sound quality is shoddy and sub-standard. after syncing a couple of tracks, of varying genre I gave them all a listen and it is safe to say that these headphones are simply supreme, the sound that they give out is just amazing. So clear and crisp without a crackle of electrical interference at all, they sound like the artist or group is actually performing infront of you, they are simply that good.
As far as my track record with headphones goes, I am abismal, honestly I replace my headphones more than you could imagine. However, these headphones did put up a formidable fight, dont get me wrong I dont deliberately break them, especially when these ones are £35 a shot! Lord no, but I found that they had a life span of around 15 months, you are probably gaping at this moment in time so please using your hand to lift your jaw back into place. :)
Anyway, on with the review, other head phones that I have purchased in the past such as the generic 'gummies' that everyone loves so much only lasted about 3 months
if that
I have had 5 pairs
where as I have had 2 pairs of iPod earphones (apple brand not cheap aftermarket look-a-likes) the first pair I got 3 years ago when I had my iPod Video. which were identically wrapped when I received them.
So having said all of this, I am sure now that you can see that dispite the fact I am an earphone murdering lunatic, you can see that these headphones are pretty phenomonal in quality and life span.
Also to point out, is the rubber lining around the speak face on the earphones, this is in my opinion the best part of the earphones as it actually stops them falling out when you are running or busy at work or school.
Summary: get a pair with your iPod/Phone, they should last you
