Advantages: Good sound quality, reasonably priced, free with your iPod or iPhone purchase.

Disadvantages: Break too easily, wiring comes loose, rubber peels away from earbuds.

When you buy any iPod or iPhone from Apple or your mobile network provider then you will receive a pair of Ipod Headphones.

I have owned several iPods and now an iPhone so have had quite a few pairs of these headphones over the past five years or so.

The headphones are white with an integrated white cable and two ear buds each marked with an L or R depending on which ear they are designed for use in. They have a mini stereo 3.5mm connector which can be used with all standard headphone jacks such as those on the iPod, iPhone, PC's, TV's & laptops and I have used these headphones with a wide variety of electrical equipment with fantastic results.

These headphones give a pretty decent sound quality, they are only beaten in my opinion by a fantastic pair of Sennheiser headphones that eventually got trodden on after a boozy night out. The sound quality is not tinny and they give a decent blast of music in each year while balancing the bass in music very well and giving me a fantastic musical experience wherever I may be.

Like I mentioned above I have had several pairs of these in the past and the problems I have noticed seem to be the same with all of them. Eventually where I pull the headphones out of the iPod or iPhone to use somewhere else the plastic on the wire begins to come away from the connector and this will eventually stop the sound in one or both earbuds rendering the headphones useless or almost useless. Also, I have noticed several times now that the ear phones begin to lose protective grey rubber coating and this will just flake away, sometimes in to your ear or on your clothes which looks appalling.

These headphones are currently available from Amazon.co.uk for £8.90 with free shipping and I would recommend steering clear of any replica versions of these as I've found the problems I've had to be increased tenfold and happen ten times faster!

I am going to rate these headphones 3/5 as the sound is very good, one of the best I've found, but the faults with the wires and the rubber coating is quite a bit one for me as it means every year or so I end up purchasing a new pair of headphones (although admittedly I usually am purchasing a new gadget anyway!).

My top tip to prevent your headphones from getting broken is not to wrap them around the iPod/iPhone when not in use and put the wire under your clothes not over them when out to prevent the wire getting caught on door handles or similar things.

Summary: A pretty average pair of headphones that sound good but end up breaking each time.

Good to know thank you, although my Gothy kills ANY set of earphones no matter how indestructible! :o)

These hurt my ears and never stay in. I buy replacements straight away when I get a new iPod. Well reviewed 8^)
