Apple iPod Earphones
Advantages: Free with ipods
Disadvantages: Break easily, Terrible sound
I actually own several pairs of these headphones due to working my way through an i-pod shuffle (broke) 2 ipod classics (broken) and an I-pod touch (now sold). It appears that apple are so pleased with their product that in recent years the technology creating the ipod has been focused on and no changes have been made to the cheap plastic headphones that actually produce the sound coming out of the MP3 player.
The headphone jack is a standard 3.5mm, so the headphones can be used on pretty much anything that has a headphone socket including using an adaptor to fit the larger style jack used from DJ mixers.
The earpieces fit into your ears as with most earpiece style headphones. I have used them for a considerable length of time when on long haul flights and find them incredibly uncomfortable making my earrs extremely sore after a few hours.
The build has not improved over the various sets I have owned. The jacks wear out easily and the earpieces eventually break. Maybe I don't treat them well enough, but I have used other brands which are far more sturdy and long lasting that are not particularly expensive.
The sound quality is awful. The earphones provide almost zero bass and seem to increase the volume of the higher pitched noises. This makes the music sound tinny and ruins most music I have listened to ranging from rock to dance music.
They were supplied free with my ipod(s) so worth every penny. I certainly wouldn't pay for them.
If you receive these free with an ipod throw them straight in the bin, make a piece of art from them if you don't like waste, use them to tie a plant to a stake, hang a hook on the end and take them fishing. Whatever you do, don't use them as headphones...they ruin good music.
Summary: Worst headphones EVER
