Apple iPod Earphones
Advantages: They come with the iphone, they produce good volume and sound
Disadvantages: Lead is quite short and rigid.
I got a pair of these free when I bought my Apple iphone, I bought the black version of the iphone and was a little shocked to see nice white shining headphones in the box. I would have preferred these in black, as a black phone and white headphones don't really go very well. I got them with it so I guess I could just go and buy another set that matched, I haven't done this, nor do I really intend to so it can't bother me that much.
One thing that does bother me though is uncomfortable these headphones are. They have no cushiony protection that makes them easier to wear, they are just hard plastic, which is ok for a short time but make extended listening very uncomfortable. Another problem with these headphones is the lead is way too short and a little rigid for my liking. The wires are covered in a thick plastic covering which make winding out of pockets and under coats a little tricky as it sticks out rather than just following the contours of your coat, only a little niggle but worth mentioning I think. The shortness of the wire however is a problem that isn't easy to overcome. It doesn't give you much leeway with where to store your iphone while listening to music at it will only reach so far.
One cool point is the volume buttons, these are situated on the lead from one ear piece, it is a rectangle of plastic that allows you to increase, and decrease the volume of music without having to do it on your actual iphone. A fast forward button would also be helpful as in order to change tracks, you still have to physically use your phone. There is a speaker in this rectangle as well so you can use your phone while wearing headphones. You can join the hands free group of mad people talking to themselves in public now, I have only used this function a handful of times as I don't like everyone looking at me, while I randomly speak to no-one.
The sound quality through the headphones is good, the volume can go very loud, which is great for listening to some songs, you can turn it down and still hear outside noises, I find while out and about, hearing for cars behind you or people on bikes about to run you over etc. Hearing nothing at all apart from your music, is a little dangerous so this isn't as issue for me. If you don't want to hear the world, turn it up! Overall these are by no means the worse headphones I have used, I am sure there are better ones out there but for nothing these do what they are meant to.
Summary: Overall not bad
