Apple iPod Earphones
Advantages: Sound quality and nuetral colour
Disadvantages: Marks are noticable
Personally, I was weary about buying Apple headphones. I was given a free pair with my iPod when I first bought it but recently they got damaged and I found myself hunting down a new pair. At first I brought a cheap pair from Ebay that looked like Apple headphones but weren't for £0.99. I know, this should have said it all but when I got them the grey bits at the bottom of the headphones fell off. I went back online and found a legit Apple pair of headphones for £4.99 and £6.99. I thought they were worth buying considering you can get them in electronic stores for £10.00 and more.
When they arrived they came in a lovely little rectangular box, which I find perfect because it shows that Apple do not waste their money or the tree's by selling their products. The box was black and white and had the picture of the simplistic headphones on the front. Also, followed by the Apple branding logo on each side of the box. Admittedly, this box was more attractive than the headphones themselves. The earphones are simple looking but what more do you want when they are only going in your ears anyway. Also, they match majority of the Apple products. When you are wearing them the only part of the product that is noticeable to the human eye is the wire and that is pure white. There should be no problem there as this is neutral. However, when you're not wearing them you will find that the wire has a silver adapter that slots into your device and of course, the actual ear pieces on the other end. The ear pieces are white with a grey end and a grey circle around the actual inner ear. They also indicate which ear piece is which by adding an additional L and R onto the inner side of the ear piece which I think is lovely. On the outer side at the top there are three miniature holes that I presume allow for more sound. I am yet to find out what these holes are for. It is also worth mentioning that the headphones don't have to be used just in Apple products, it can also be used in technology that is not branded by Apple.
However, this product is easy to get dirty. I store them in one of the pockets in my bag whilst I am not using them and I have found that they have dyed the same colour as the bag. It is also impossible to wipe these marks away.
The sound quality through these headphones is decent and I have found it even more reliable in an actual Apple product. Whilst in the Apple product I find that they work better than not in an Apple product. Whether it be the compatibility, again, I do not know. It is not that the sound quality is bad in products that aren't distributed by Apple, that is not it at all. I just find myself turning music down on my iPod, rather than on an MP3 or Blackberry I don't.
I mentioned how much I got mine for, but the price varies. I have to admit I think the bargain I got mine for is definitely value for money. However, I would not pay Apple's prices for these headphones, but then I will never pay that £0.99 for the other pair again either.
If you find them at an affordable price, I would highly recommend them to anyone. Some even come with a volume controller on the wire and though I don't like this, others might. They are well worth the try if you need a new pair or even just want a spare for other products. I would also say that they are very comfortable to wear and that they don't make my ears ache unlike most inner ear pieces.
Summary: Affordable if found in the right place. Brilliant sound quality.
