So I finally fell into the creek and bought a pair of Solo Beats. I had to convince my self that there was a method to all the madness with the buzz and celebrity eye candy with the beats. They were a lot more pricey than the twenty to fifty dollar headphones that I normally purchase.
The first thing that I noticed was the semi noise reduction with the partial ear piece covering my ears. I do understand that the purpose of the headphones are not to have full noise reduction but it was a nice treat to have. The quality of the music and sound that come through the Beats headphones are simply amazing! I have listened to Sony and Sennheiser headphones and I believe this is much better quality. I use the Beats primarily for listening to music and also creating music in my recording studio.
The one thing that I didn't really like because my kids use the Beats occasionally are the hinges where the beats have to bend. It seems like they could have made them a little more child proof so no hands or skin gets pinched when folding the headphones back when you are done with them. They are super durable as a lot of my other headphones did not last very long after a year or so. These Solo Beats have been extremely user friendly and I would definitely purchase another pair as soon as this pair starts to wear and tear which doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon!
These headphones are undoubtedly the best pair of music headphones which I have ever owned. I use them on a regular basis whether it be out and about generally or on the commute for work. The customer service on these headphones were second to none and they ensure quality. I myself had a problem with one of the ear phones popping out after owning them for about two months. Having rung up the company, they replaced them in no time with a new pair and I went happily on my way.
I have now had my solo HD headphones for 3 years and I must say, I am impressed. They are incredibly sterdy and the quality of the sound itself is very good. Not only is their longevity a great aspect but also the fact that a cable comes with them allowing one to here just the music with the omission of the lyrics. (particularly useful when learning an instrument lets say - as I found)
What are you buying? Along with the headphone comes a travel case and 2 headphone cables. The headphones themselves collapse downwards and thus become concise and portable for travelling. Furthermore, they are very easy to adjust and have a range of different extensions, allowing for all different shapes and sizes of heads.
Whilst being very stylish and sterdy, it is important to note that these headphones are very expensive when at the end of the day, they function like any other headphones. you can expect yourself to be poaying around 150 pounds. Not cheap but I would say worth it all in all.
I have actually had 2 pairs of these due to my first pair getting lost whilst on holiday, but that is part of the beauty of these headphones, you can easily take them on holiday due to their folding capabilities and the fact that they come with a small case to store the headphones in when they have been folded up. To help store them more snugly, the cable for the headphones is also removable which allows to cable to also stay protected when travelling, as other cable might have pressure put on them which would cause the end of the wired jack to snap off, which has happened to me with a cheaper pair of headphones.
Not only does the detachable wire allow you to transport the headphones safely, it also means that it is possible to buy replacement wires should anything go wrong, this means that should the wire break, you won't have to buy a whole new set of headphones you can just replace the wire which is a lot cheaper.
The sound quality is amazing which is why I have gone back to them after I lost my first pair. They are also becoming cheaper which makes them a much more viable choice for a lot of people who are unwilling to pay £150 for a pair of headphones, this means that you should buy these headphones as soon as possible before the prices for them rise again.
These headphones will be able to resist minor knocks however they are not made to withstand strong collisions and will just break at the hinges, if too much force is applied.
Want great sound? Sick of all the cheap rubbish headphones you have purchased over the years? Then these are the headphones for you. The Beats i have are the solid matt black ones. They come in a high quality solid cardboard box that opens with magnets once you remove the slip cover. Inside the box you get the headphones, cable for headphones as its detachable that comes wrapped in a small amount of velcro to keep in bundled together and a case to store your headphones in. The matt black versions i have are great compared to the black shiny finished ones as it does not bring up hand prints or attract dust. The cable is thick and wide so it does not tangle. The cable also comes with a volume control and a mic so you can talk on a phone without having to unplug your phone and the moment the conversation is ended the music should continue. The ear pieces are very comfortable and soft and block out the surrounding sounds very well. The plastic on the sides that the ear pieces are attached to move up and down and side to side which makes it sit better on all kinds of ears. The strap that goes on top of your head adjusts on both sides to fit any shaped head and its also comfortable even when its fully extended. They say beats by dr.dre on the top bar and have a white b on each side of the plastic sides. The piece that plugs into your device is not straight and goes in through the side of the adaptor and that also has a b on it with word beats written out. Now to the most important part the sound, these sound amazing especially on bassy tracks and bring out all the sound quality you could ask for without buying full studio quality headphones. Yes these are expensive but what you get is an amazing set of great sounding headphones that will last you.
My boyfriend (at the time) bought me these in red for Christmas 2013. They were around £150 from Tesco Direct. The headphones came boxed in a really impressive sturdy box which I now use to store jewellery. They also came with a soft carry case, instruction leaflet and Dr Dre beats stickers. The headphones can be folded for storage. This also makes them portable and suitable for use during travelling. These headphones sound AMAZING. The sound quality is far more superior than any other headphones I have used in my life, and I have used a few! No cheap tinny sound here, just pure bass and pure music for your enjoyment.
The sound quality with these is absolutely crystal clear. It doesn't matter how loud your music is with these the sound is always great. There's no background noise either as these babies well and truly drown it out! The padding on the headphones themselves is incredibly comfortable. I used these during a two and a half hour train journey from Nottingham to Liverpool and once I had reached my destination my ears didn't feel any different. Well they did feel cold as the padding warmed them up for me!
They also look great too. The colours are really fresh and vibrant and their overall design is really modern and fashionable. I thought they initially looked a little too masculine for my liking but the red colour is actually quite feminine. I love it.
The headphones are well made, sturdy and durable. Don't be afraid to fold them over as initially they can be a little tight to fold. After a few "folds" they loosen up a bit and it becomes easier to shrink them for portability. Their carry case is the perfect size for the headphones and it helps to protect them during transit, so make sure you use it!
Would I recommend these? Of course I would! They're just a little expensive but I have seen them on offer in the sales so have a look around. You might see them for £100 like I have.
Great headphones. They sound great, look great and they're designed by Dr Dre so what more do you want?
Now this heaphones are just amazing. I'm giving it 5/5 cause the quality is the beast of these ones. Like it says in the name they are made by the legend Dr.Dre. It's just perfect great fit nice quality and it has a lot of versions of these ones but these are the best the first ones were the best. Yes they are really expensive but it is worth every penny. Really high quality and great brand just amazing thing Dre did about the music. He took music to the next level. Really loving them, have them since 2011 and they are still perfect. It doesn't match with any of the world best selling headphones like Skullcandy. Just not for comparing. Beats by Dre are the best thing if you enjoy the music either you are an artist or just music fan. Great design great quality great fit everything is just amazing
I bought these Beats- always wanted a pair so I thought finally I have the money so I will take the plunge and purchase some!
They have different type of beats ranging from £125 till £300 plus.. these ones were more than enough to spend.
The sound is pretty consistent and it doesn't matter what type of genre of music you are listening to. They also are cosy to wear and keep your ears warm, which is good in the cold weather!
My mum thought I was mad to spend so much on headphones but they are worth it for the sound element! The sound is really clear.. better than any other headphones I have ever had. They come within a nice pouch in which you can store them in which is nice.
I feel like these aren't 100% sturdy.. that's the only thing that ruins them for me! Otherwise they would be 100% perfect!
These headphones are great sound quality and bass but the build materials are very poor. Most of the headphone is made from a cheap glossy plastic you wouldn't expect on headphones for there price. The only good quality part is the cable and the ear cups which are soft and fit snuggly onto your ears. I have been playing around these for a few weeks and they are useful for travelling due to their travel case and the fact that theses headphones are able to fold. These headphones are very light and you barely notice them on your head. I would say though that after about an hour of continuous use they do get uncomfortable on your head and after a few months the folding joint gets very loose and can be very annoying. The wires are anti tangle and very thick which is a plus in a way as they dont get caught in zips or anything
The Beats by Dr. Dre Solo HD On-Ear Headphone is a very comfortable headphone.
It has a soft padding for my ear, has dynamical HD sound and a nice bass.
It is also very convenient because you can fold it and put in this small headphone sack they give you.
The entire package also comes with, a manual guide, cleaning cloth, and a quote from Dr. Dre himself along with an autograph (fantastic if your a fan!!)
It also comes with two connectors for the headphone, one with control talk, and one without. The control talk is very handy because you don't have to pickup your phone by pressing answer - you just press the button on the control talk. Control talk also is used for music and iPods; the instructions manual will teach you how to use it.
The colour of the headphones is very shiny and looks like it wont fade over time!!
when my husband came home with these a few days ago my first reacting was to say "how much". after using them myself I was impressed with the quality of the sound which is very clear. they are comfortable to wear and seem to block out the sound of out side noise without being to tight on your head. they seem very well built and of good quality, they have been used quite a bit int he last few days since purchase and so far I think I can say that they will be for some time, after getting over the shock of the price I would prob go on to say that they are worth the money wouldnt have got a similar product of this quality for a similar price, and are also a very on trend item so if your into looking good while listening to good quality sound these are are for you
I'd never properly used a pair of headphones until I bought a pair of these, not only are they light and sleek. The sound quality is far superior than anything I've listened to before. The headphones come with a dust case which keeps them safe when in a bag for example. Although well made, these headphones look like they would break if sat/stood on for example. The sounds quality can be very basey, and near on all outside sound is blocked out... Good but a little eerie if you are home alone listening to some tunes! All in all, apart from the prices I'd definitely recommend these, and will be purchasing a pair for a Christmas present this year! If you are looking to buy a pair of these headphones, try a friends as this will definitely sway you to buy a pair. Hope this review has helped you! :)
I purchased a pair of Beats Solo headphones about three months ago. I primarily use them with my iphone and on occasion with my Samsung laptop. Solo are currently the smallest of the Beats on ear headphones.
Solo headphones currently come in 9 colours: black, dark blue, light blue pink, purple, green, red, white and futura-atom (white with sort of paint splattered). After much deliberation, as I liked many of the colours, I went for purple which is grape purple shade. There is a 2.5cm wide band which goes over your head connecting the two earpieces. There is also a hinge on either side which allows the earpieces to fold inwards and the headphones become fairly compact (considering they're on ear). On top of the band 'beats by dr dre' is written and the Beats logo features on each earpiece in silver. The inside of my headphones are black, this may be white depending what colour you buy. The inner band in lined which rubber to provide some comfort from the plastic band and the actual earpieces have large soft black cushions. Each earpiece also pivots to allow for extra flexibility and comfort. On the inside of the band just below the hinge there is a R or L to show which way round to wear them. Solos come with a detachable red wire for connecting to your music device, it connects to the left headphone. The connecting wire also includes in-line control talk. This allows you to control your music (increase/decrease volume, pause, play, next track or previous track) as well as using the headphones as a handsfree device. This is really handy as it saves you digging your device out your pocket.
The sound is good but considering the price and comparing them to cheaper headphones the sound isn't £100+ difference in sound. A common comment on Beats is the bass level, this is definitely more noticeable however it obviously depends on the particular track you're playing. It's up to the individual user if loud bass is your thing. For overall volume I've found it's not particularly loud. Again this depends on the volume of the track/video you are playing. For example I use the youtube app and I've found some videos are quiet but then others are louder than playing 'normal' music on the iphone even though I haven't touched the volume level. Noise cancellation could be better as well. Leaving the headphone on without any music playing it takes the edge off outside noise but you can definitely still hear it. What really disappoints me is the amount of noise that leaks out of the headphones. From about half volume the person sat next to you can hear your music. I do like my music loud but I also don't want to annoy other people with it.
As mentioned I have only had the Solos for 3 months so I will update this review later to give a proper durability verdict. I can see one potential problem being the hinges, these many loosen over time, we will see. The main covering on the headphones is plastic which I don't imagine will take much battering. I am also a bit worried they may scratch.
The Carry Case
The headphones come with a padded carry case. This is black with a red version of the beats logo on it. The case is a great addition to the product however I've already stopped using it. The headphones only fit in if you fold them up and you need to detach the wire so it becomes a bit tedious putting them away and getting them back out if you use them a lot. I would probably only use the case now if I was travelling. However even though the case is padded it's not enough to withstand a weight or dropping. It would protect from scratches but would only cushion slightly so probably not enough to prevent damage to the important parts.
I love the look, they are comfortable and the sound quality is good. However I can't quite get the volume I would like when out and about. It remains to be seen how they last over time. I'm not the first and won't be the last to say you pay the money for Beats for the name and the look, as mentioned the sound isn't really an upgrade. I bought them as a treat for myself as they're not something you buy regularly.
You know what you are getting when you decide to purchase these classy and stylish headphones. Currently the Beats brand is growing and this set of headphones is looking to be older. This doesn't mean it is outdated however as This can hold its own alongside the new models. I like to see headphones by looking at the value for money, as these sell for around £170 you deserve to know what you are getting.
As the product claims; these are light weight and they do give you the 'crystal clear highs and deep, rumbling lows in high definition'. The product is tough, it can withstand the odd drop here and there but i warn you to take care. The ear cups do wobble if you rattle the product, the sound made sounds like you have broken the product. you haven't, everything still functions, it just shows a slight lack in the build quality.
Unlike many headphone these have 2 speakers in each ear cup, this increases the quality of the sound, HD.
Along with the good aesthetics and nicely designed ergonomics my favourite part is the cable. The cable isnt the most important thing but it does have a built in mic for talking phone calls and also a set of controls to control your music on the go. This includes volume up and down and the ability to skip a song, play and pause. ~The cable itself doesn't tangle like a normal cable which helps.
The headphones come with a soft travel case which you can fold your headphones up into for travelling.
