Bose In-Ear Headphones
Advantages: Not as expensive as their rivals, superb sound quality.
Disadvantages: Will they last more than 5 minutes? The jury is out.
You may have read my review on the Shure headphones I have had. Basically the replacement pair I had sent to me have given up the ghost and although their customer care was excellent I dont trust the quality of their products any longer. I have since opted for the Bose In-ear headphones and very much hope these last a little longer! Although they have an RRP of around £90 i bought mine for £43.95 from Amazon and am so far impressed with them.
The sound quality of these Bose headphones is excellent. They compare favourably to the Shure headphones I recently reviewed and are aesthetically pleasing. These bud-style headphones have soft silicone tips for comfort whilst wearing them and I can happily have them in use for hours on end without any soreness. The tips are angled to fit perfectly into your ears and fit snuggly due to their composition. There are three sizes of tips included in the pack and they are each colour-coded.
More about the aesthetics I think as these are great looking ear-buds! They have Bose stamped proudly on the edge of the earpieces and this could be a good or bad thing because on one hand you are showing people you can afford these high-end 'buds and on the other you are advertising the fact you have an expensive product on you. I am sure you are all aware of the thefts of i-pods due to people walking round with the very distinctive white headphones and the branding of these 'buds could pose similar problems. I no longer have my nice little job working for the NHS and so only use these at home as opposed to work and home so this isnt an issue for me. Personally I dont use headphones whilst walking down the street as I think it is dangerous. The number of pedestrians walking into the road with headphones on is uncanny!
Overall I am extremely pleased with these Bose headphones....for now. I am just wondering how long it takes for the seemingly good quality to show signs of wear and tear. My bet is on the connection between the 'buds' and the wire to be the first weakness. Here's hoping their customer service is as good as Shure!
Summary: Great sound quality at a fair cost
