Advantages: Cheap, comfortable.
Disadvantages: Sound quality poor when volume is high.
I've had an iPod or an MP3 player for about 6 years now, maybe more. During this time I went through several pairs of iPod headphones before moving on to other brands depending on what is reasonable priced at the time that I need headphones. Some of my headphones have become unusable thanks to loss and several because we have a cat that likes to slice through any wires and basically anything else that she can get her teeth in to. She seems to be attracted to my headphones and my laptop wires also (particularly if they are plugged in) and yet I still find myself forgetting, leaving my headphones or wires on the table and then coming in after my sleep thinking 'Oh no, not again'. She seems to know the one time when I have left the wires somewhere quite high and yet despite moving everything she still manages to jump up and find them!
These iLuv headphones are my latest pair and I paid just over £7.00 for them from Amazon.co.uk. What attracted me to them was that I could get a pink pair (yay!) and that they had a volume control on the actual headphones. This means that I can turn my iPod to a good volume and then adjust the headphone volume accordingly to ensure that I do not have to keep taking my iPod out in a public place.
These headphones have a standard headphone jack so I can use them with my iPod, my laptop, my stereo or anything else with a standard port that I want to use them with.
These headphones go in to your ear and they have an adjustable ear slider so you can change the length of the individual ear piece sections to suit your needs. This is a feature that I love about headphones as they are always more comfortable when I can change the length.
These headphones have soft tips on them of which you get two sets (small and large) so you can use the set that is suitable for your ear size. I used the small ones and they fit me perfectly. When I am using the headphones they go in to my ears well and they are incredibly comfortable. I am able to wear these to and from work everyday with no discomfort at all. After a little while I almost forget that they are there.
The sound quality of these headphones is quite good, not the best I've ever had but for just over £7.00 I'd expect nothing better! I do not have my music on very loud (conscious of damaging my ears) but on the rare occasion I have turned something up very loud I have found that the sound quality can be a little bit fuzzy. This is a shame but on the plus side it does prevent me from having my music full blast and helps keep my ears healthier!
In terms of value for money these compare in price to the JVC Gumy ones and I must say that the Gumy ones are definitely better. Next time I see the Gumy ones on offer I may just be tempted to pick up a pair of those again. I am giving these headphones 3/5. I was toying with giving it 4/5 but the quality of the headphones is poorer when the volume is increased which really is quite a big downside as this is the primary function of headphones!
Summary: An average pair of headphones for a reasonable price.
