After becoming sick of my apple earphones breaking, i decided it was time for a change. Alot of my friends have got these Gummy earphones as they've been in fashion for a while now, and after hearig alot of good feedback about the headphones, i bought myself a pair. They were easy to find after typing in 'gummy earphones' into google and i ended up getting mine from Amazon for £3.99 including delivery which considering the price that some shops charge was a complete bargain.
The earphones are really unusual looking and are available in numerous colours; black, white, green, purple, orange, blue etc. Mine are a neon pink which are very noticeable and girly. The colour is on the wiring and earbud bud but the actual earphone (the bit that goes into the ear) is white on the inside.
The earphones came in a small plastic box (with a cardboard backing) which said 'gumy' on it. It was translucent so that the earphones were visible so that the buyer knows excactly what to expect upon opening it.
A tiny information leaflet is also included which explains the basic features of the headphones.
They have a really gummy feel to them, making the earphones quite soft and flexible. The headphone cable is 1 metre long so ideal for threading through t shirts. (ipod in jean pocket, threaded up to the ear under clothing so it's unoticeable during lectures and boring uni work lol)
The earbuds are easy to insert and remove.
Using them is simple; they plug into the bottom of my ipod easily and work straight away; no waiting around for them to adjust. The sound is amazing! It goes extremely loud, much louder than the apple earphones. The only downside is that even when they're on a medium volume most people can hear the noise coming from them, which i didn't realise until someone told me to turn my music down, however on a more positive note they block out most external noise. The earphones are extremely lightweight (5 grams) and i often forget that i'm even wearing them! They're easily portable and are ideal for use on the move.
The earbuds warm up once inserted and aren't hard and plasticy, they're really comfy.
The sound quality although a little loud at times is brilliant. Clear and as the earphones are marked 'left' and 'right', the instrumentals and vocals stream from different sides making the sound that bit more special.
There is no echoeing, buzzing or anything like that.
They work great with my iPod touch and can also be used with the iPhone, iPod shuffle and iPod nano.
The only downside is i think personally they're aimed more at the younger market; probably mainly children upto young adults due to the kitsch design (I'm 19 and feel they look a bit 'little girlish/childish' when wearing them due the colour and design!) but there's nothing stopping a slightly older music lover trying them out if desired.
I have had mine for 5 months now and have noticed the sound isn't as loud as it was however it's still clear and they're still intact. If/when they do wear out, i'll definetly be buying another pair.
