As a music lover I go through plenty of pairs of headphones, and one of my favourite pairs yet have to be the JVC Gumy earphones.
Coated completely in rubber, the bud fits snugly in your ear and is very comfortable for long journeys. The cable is of ample length and is extremely flexible. The headphones also come in a range of bright colours which is great because your can pick your favourite to match your style.
The sound quality of these headphones is great for the price - quite powerful and it fills your ear. The sound is not at all tinny and has a thick texture, rather than some of the other cheap brands that sound like you're listening to an out of tune radio.
The earphone itself is sturdy and durable. However, the cable is not so much, particularly the jack. The rubber is still highly flexible around this area and I've found that this can lead to internal wires breaking quite easily which can lead to one/both headphones not working.
Overall, I think these headphones are great value for what you pay (only £1.99!) but they do show that they are lower quality than some others by the way that they break easily.
I bought these headphones around a year ago on a special offer for £2.99 and they have been fantastic! I wasn't expecting much at all with the price so low but they have been as good as any ipod headphones or anything I've had. The sound quality is great for them and they are really comfortable in your ear too! They are available in loads of cool colours and look great in the ear. I actually find these more comfortable than any other with the "gumy" aspect adding a spongy like feel to them, and they don't hurt after a long time like many headphones do! what is really great is you're getting all the quality you need for next to nothing , the volume range isn't the greatest but they still go pretty loud! If you're looking for headphones for everyday use or exercise these are a great option for you!
I bought a pair of these when my apple pair broke, and I did not have enough money to buy another pair of those.
I was very happy with these and found they fitted very comfortably in my ear, often I find in-ear earphones hurt my ears but I did not have that problem with this pair.
The first pair I had were purple and didnt appear to get dirty at all, but when this pair broke - wouldn't say this is a problem with the product, just my lack of care for them (pulling them from my bag when they are tangled) meant the cable snapped. I then bought a white pair of these which I wouldn't recommend! Due to the material they are made from, they quickly went a horrible grey-yellow colour all over, and I couldn't help worrying people might think I have bad ear wax! LOL
Overall very happy with this product and especially as they are some of the cheapest earphones you can find in many shops, they are definitely value for money
At the time when my wife purchased the mp3 player for me. I had to buy new headphones as the Walkman ones kept falling out of my ear. I spent quite a lot of time researching on the web. It was hard to decide which headphones would be the best as there is a wide variety to choose from some being expensive and having good audio quality but at the cost of life expectancy to those that are inexpensive with a great build quality but with average audio quality.
I got this headphone for around £3.99 from Amazon. You can choose the colour that you want i.e.
Red, pepper mint blue, white, black, yellow, orange, pink and purple. I picked the red one as it stood out for me and it is my favourite colour.
The prices do vary depending on the websites that you go to. I found that amazon is the cheapest to buy these headphones from.
My thoughts about it
The reason why I selected to buy these headphones was:
Number 1: it is really cheap and I didn't want to waste huge amounts of money for a pair of headphones that would break after a month usage
Number 2: it has received a huge amount of positive reviews
These headphones are brilliant, the audio quality is great you can hear everything crisp and clear. They sit perfectly well in my ears, the cable length is great it is about 1.0m long, I'm quite a tall person and so this is an important factor for me. I am able to place my MP3 player in my jean pocket and the headphone are able to reach my ears. There are a few times where they would fall out. That's just because my ears are shaped weirdly :). I really like the design of it, it has a nice rubberised texture. On the headphones they are clearly labelled with L (Left) and R (Right), these help to indicate which headphone piece belongs to which side. This is extremely useful as there are times I would find myself putting the Right earpiece to my left ear.
I would have these headphones in for around an hour and a half max, and they are very comfortable you hardly notice that they are in your ears. There were times where I panicked as I thought I lost them, but then I realised that they were in my ears the whole time :/.
I have owned these headphones for quite a long time now and I can honestly say they have not broken down, I am able to still hear the audio in both ear pieces. The cable is not damaged, and none of the inner wiring are showing.
The only downside to having these headphones is that they don't have noise cancelling feature. I which on my train journey to work, I would find it hard to listen to the music. But overall the audio quality is good it is clear, the audio is balanced.
Overall I am delighted with my purchase, it is very cheap, you can choose from a wide range of colours. They last long and it has a great cable length to suit most people needs. I definitely recommend this item to anyone currently looking for a replacement for their old headphones.
I must admit I have owned a range of headphones over the years, some lasted a few weeks others managed to last me years. I have a couple of headphones I use for my laptop, and then a different one for my TV so I can listen to the tv at night in my room without having to worry about waking any of my family members up. These JVC Gumy headphones are ones that I tend to mostly use with my laptop and occasionally with my Dictaphone, TV and mp3 player.

I purchased a white coloured vision of these JVC Gumy earphones from my local Asda supermarket for around £5, which in my opinion is a great bargain price for branded name earphones. Alternatively these earphones can also be purchased from Tesco, Sainsbury's, and other main street music stores like HMV.
There a number of online stores that also sell them, some of the online stores include; Amazon which sell them a range of colours with prices ranging from £3.49-6.00 depending on the colour. Play.com and eBay also sell them for similar prices, but I am sure you can find these a little cheaper on eBay if you look around.

One of the main reasons why I purchased these earphones was for its price, I didn't want to spend a lot of money on these as they were mainly going to be used as spare earphones that I would occasionally use on my laptop, and therefore I didn't see the point of spending too much. The fact that these are JVC branded means that you are going to get quality earphones that will last longer than buying unbranded £1 earphones from the pound shop. It has a standard headphone jack that is gold platted and can be fitted into mp3/iPod players, most TV's, Laptops etc.
As I purchased the white coloured earphones, they look pretty much like any other standard earphones. However as they come in a range of colours such as purple, red, green, pink, black and blue I can imagine these colours would make them look more alive and vibrant than the white coloured one I have. The length of the wire stretches to a good length meaning I can easily sit and type away on my laptop as normal while still having the earphones on. I also like to have my laptop positioned next to me while I am using a stationary bike at home, as I like to either listen to music or watch movies on my laptop while exercising which I find helps a great deal in keeping me entertained while doing some cardio. I find that the earphones are able to stretch a good distance so that I can comfortably wear these earphones while exercising, however I don't position the laptop that far anyway (an arms length) as the screen it a bit small, so I can imagine these finding it hard to reach my ears if I positioned my laptop at a bigger distance.
I also occasionally use these with my mp3 player and find that these allow me to easily listen to the music while the mp3 player sits in my pocket, illustrating that the lead is able to extend to a good length. The earphone heads are clearly labelled with either an L or R, making it easy to identify which earphone head is for the left ear and which is for the right ear. As these are made from hard plastic they are nice and sturdy and sit securely in the ears, they are comfortable despite having limited cushioning. I tend to wear these for an hour at a time and they sit securely in my ear and only occasionally fall out, but this is more due to my own doing than a fault with the design. I find myself easily wearing these for an hour without my ears feeling discomfort, and I hardly even notice I am wearing them!
I use these to watch movies and listen to music on my laptop or television and find the quality to be good, it isn't fantastic but to be honest with the price I wasn't expecting it to be. They allow music and sound to be heard easily and clearly, and to good standard of quality. I don't really tend to use these with my mp3 player that much as I have a better higher quality pair of earphones that I prefer to use for them. These JVC gumy earphones don't have any sound cancelling features therefore I have used these when my partner was watching a football game and found that it was harder to ear my music on my mp3 player and ended up having to go into another quieter room. Therefore these probably aren't the ideal earphones to use if you are going to be using them often in a busy environment where there are lots of sound interferences. For me however these are ideal for using them now and again for the laptop during my exercise workout at home, so I am not that fussed about the above issue.

For the price these are handy earphones that produce good clear sound. They are JVC branded so they will last longer than cheaper unbranded earphones, which I can support as I have used mine for over a year now with no problems or faults appearing. Therefore I would happily recommend these earphones to anyone who looking for simple and good standard earphones.
Gumy headphones are my headphones of choice as I think they strike a good balance between being affordable and also being good and they don't fall apart at the slightest use. As a bonus they also come in an array of bright colours so I can match them to my mood.
The part which goes in your ear is covered in rubber and although these are ones that sit just inside your ear instead of going into it they are extremely comfortable and they are contoured in such a way that they actually stay in place when walking.
I do use these for exercising at they are quite good at not moving thanks to the rubber but when it comes to high impact sports such as running I prefer to use a pair that I have especially for running that fit snugly in my ear cavity as I know for a fact they won't come out whereas with these ones although they nearly always stay in my ear if I am running hard then occasionally they can be jarred loose.
The sound quality is excellent and my music sounds crisp and clear through them and they have good bass and don't sound tinny. And even though they don't go in my ear cavity they offer a really good level of noise insulation and I could happily wear these on the train and not have to worry about having to hear my neighbour's conversations. On something like a plane you might hear some noise from the engine but in most situations they do a good job of keeping outside noise out.
One of the best things about these headphones compared to others I've had is something really small but it is great. I can take these off and just throw them in my handbag without having to worry about placing them in neatly as they hardly ever get tangled up and in knots. It's small but it is nice to be able to get them out again and just put them straight back in without spending ages untangling them.
The length of the cord is also really good as it is long enough for them to stretch to my bag or my pocket but not too long that I find myself getting tangled up in them.
I have never owned really expensive headphones but I have listened to music through them in shops and these sound just as good to me and they also beat the included headphones that you get with Apple products hands down. They only cost between £5 and £8 depending on where you buy them and I think they are well worth the price.
~*~*~ JVC Gummy Earphones ~*~*~
I have lost so many pairs of earphones that I am starting to think that my house has little borrower people living in it. I put them down in one place and never see them again. I have lost at least 10 pairs of Apple earphones in the last couple of years and it is starting to get expensive. I have bought a couple of pairs of so-called, genuine Apple earphones on Ebay but they have been useless. So I have been on a mission to buy a decent pair of earphones at a reasonable price. When it comes to earphones I really don't like the ones which go right inside my ear, so I normal opt for the ones that sit just on the inside of the ear. Please see below for my thoughts on these earphones...
~*~*~ Packaging, Price and Availability ~*~*~
These Gummy earphones come in a transparent, hard, plastic container. On the front of the packaging is the JVC logo and the name of the product 'Gummy'. Because the packaging is transparent the earphones are easily viewable. The earphones are made front a soft, durable silicone. The cable is 1m long and the earphones can be plugged into any device with a 3.5mm stereo socket. The earphones comes in a variety of different colours such as pink, blue, green, white, black and the list goes on.
I purchased my earphones from Tesco's for around £5.00, but they are currently on offer at £4.00 (as of 03/09/2013). These earphones can also be purchased from Asda, Sainsbury's, Ebay and Amazon, for around the same price.
~*~*~ My Thoughts ~*~*~
I decided to try these earphones as the packaging was very eye catching and funky looking. The fact that these come in all different colours was also a plus as I choose the pink ones as I knew my brothers or partner probably wouldn't pinch them. I also purchased these because they were the kind of earphone that just rest on the inner part of your ear and don't go all the way in, this was clear to see as the packaging was transparent.
Once I placed the earphones in my ear I found them very comfortable to wear, they also didn't keep dropping out every minute. Once they are placed in the ear they are a snug fit and they feel very secure. I also go running with these earphones in and they always stay put. The cable is of the earphones is a perfect length, not too long and not too short.
Now the most important question... Sound quality!
The sound quality of these earphones is fantastic. The sound is very clear and there is no 'tingy' sound which I have found with other cheap earphones in the past. They also block background noises very well. I think these are just as good, if not better, than Apple earphones.
~*~*~ Would I recommend? ~*~*~
Yes I would definitely recommend these earphones, even over the Apple earphones which are much more expensive. Now I have found Gummy earphones I will not be purchasing Apple earphones again. I have had these earphones over a year and they still work perfectly. What else can I say about these earphones apart from that are cheap, funky and excellent! I have to give these earphones 5 out of 5 Dooyoo stars.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review :o)
This is my second set of Gumy headphones and I really like them. The pair I had before were purple and I've just replaced them with a lime green pair. I don't like spending loads of money on headphones because usually they only last a few months but these have lasted a lot longer.
When I bought them I didn't have much faith in them whatsoever. I thought they would just fall apart like the ones that came with my iPod. But they are amazing.
They have a lovely rubber feel to them compared to the usual plastic ones and they are very comfortable I hardly notice them most of the time and I tend to forget they are there!
The sound quality is fantastic, it's very clear and when you move the sound isn't distorted which I found with some of the other makes so they are perfect for going to the gym.i also found they were abit loader than my other headphones.
The only thing I would change is I would make the wires a little bit shorter.
These are by far the best headphones I have bought so far, the price and quality is fantastic. If I'd had known how good these were before I would have thrown my old ones in the bin ages ago
In ear headphones never seemed to work very well for me in the past. They always seem to keep falling out of my ears, or one headphone becoming crackly, or the sound going in and out altogether causing frustration and the purchase of replacements.
Buying these for less than a fiver appeared at first like a desperate move, but they have turned out to be the best headphones I have ever owned, regardless of the price.
They fit comfortably in my ears without ever dropping out, they can be used equally well with a number of products (MP3, CD player etc), they're very durable for anyone who's out and about a lot and the sound quality for such a cheap product is surprisingly crystal clear.
I don't really have a complaint to make about these headphones as they have always served me well. If I was being forced to name something I suppose initially I found the wires a little long, but this was easily solved by making a few minor adjustments and then securing it with a small piece of tape. Not exactly high-tech, but it seems to have worked for me.
I bought these because they are a reliable and trustworthy brand at a good price. I pay £4-£5 for mine from an eBay shop, the prices varies a bit depending on what model you buy. There are a few different models available because new, updated versions come out. I think this is really good because it shows that they are always trying to improve and upgrade their products.
They are available in a range of different colours and the colours are all quite bright and vibrant which makes them look unique. I have seen purple, yellow, white, purple, red, pink, green, orange, black and blue. They stand out from all the white, silver and black earphones that are available. What's even better is that the whole thing is the same colour- the wires, the whole earphone and every detail on the headphones. There is text printed on each of the earphones in white saying 'JVC' and 'L' and 'R' for left and right.
When I first got these, I noticed that the wires looked a bit thin which I think shows bad quality so I was a bit wary. I find that thin wires tangle easily and also tend to break inside so one ear stops working. Something that I really like about these is that the whole of the ear part is all in one piece, there is no rubber or sponge part to fall or break off which is great. The part that goes in your ear has a rubbery coating and is quite comfortable and fits snugly without falling out.
As for sound quality, I definitely think these are are good. They don't crackle like the pound shop ones I have bought so many times. They are also quite loud, I have had expensive Samsung and Apple headphones in the past which have came with phones/iPods and these are about the same volume as them which is a great factor. With the really cheap headphones, I find that there are some songs I just cannot listen to when I'm on the bus because I literally cannot hear them. I have never had this problem when using the Gumys. The sound quality is good too, I would say that they pick up the bass in songs which means that the sound isn't just flat and you can enjoy what you are listening to more. The sound quality is clear and you can pick up the little details in what you are listening to which I think is a good sign of quality in a pair of headphones.
These aren't marketed as noise-cancelling but I think they do a reasonably good job at that. That means that they block out some of the noises outside of your ear so you can hear what you are listening to through the headphones. They don't do as good a job as some more expensive headphones though but I haven't really had a problem with this.
The wire on these are a metre long which is so useful, the wire doesn't get pulled when they are plugged into my phone in my pocket or bag which is important to me. I have used cheap headphones with short wires and they have been almost unusable because of this.
I have had a few pairs of Gumy headphones. I have found that the newer the model, the better the headphones with Gumys. My first couple broke after maybe 3 months of every day use but I have had these for about 7 months now with no issues at all. I do think they could make the wire a bit thicker though just to make sure they don't tangle which I know can make the internal connections break. I am quite careful with these, I try not to let them get tangled. I found out that if you roll any wire up in a circle, it can make the internal connections and wires break which makes the whole thing break. So, apparently you are meant to roll wires up in a figure eight which is supposed to help this. That is what I do with these and maybe that's why they haven't broken. If you are putting these in your pocket/bag then I think doing this is quite important. Also, putting them in a bag pocket instead of the main section helps a lot so they can't get tangled round things. Because the wires are on the thinner side, these do get tangled pretty easily if I don't do any of this, which is a bit annoying.
For the price, these are great! I definitely recommend them, these have saved me money when I compare them to how many Poundland headphones I would have bought during the time. These are a good pair of headphones, but probably not that great if you are used to using the more high-end brands of headphones.
Jvc gummy earphones review:
I bought these ear bud's to listen to music on my mobile phone at home and on the go; my previous pair broke so then I started looking for an cheap pair of buds, I turned to these not expecting much; the price of these earphones are not bad either; you can find these on the market for a nominal £4; Generally ear bud's at that price are genuine knock offs, but these headphones are alright for the price. The audio quality of these headphones produce is crystal clear but I prefer a pair of Skull candy's as they have that extra base.
They are available in variety of colors in fact an 9 colors black, white, Green, Purple, Yellow, pink, blue, red, orange; the color coat extends down to the 1 meter wire which is a tad shiny; to the gold plated jack. The wire leading up to the headphone is unsteady and you can feel the contents in the ear bud move up and down. The wire is pretty flimsy, and could tangle easily. The gummy ear bud itself is made of rubber; the rounded, smoothed surfaced ear bud fits perfectly and securely in the ear making it hard to fall out. Generally listening to the radio and music on the buses, streets and trains or any out space area the headphone does really awful job on counseling background noise as what I found to be pretty annoying is I have to listen to one direction from the girl sitting next to me on the bus (joking).
The JVC gummy headphones are pretty good price in terms of sound audio quality if you have a few quid to spare. I would recommend these headphones to anyone looking for a new set; but if you want better standard quality you going to have to break a little deeper in your wallet.
These headphones are really attractive looking and colourful. They have an interesting gummy texture which makes them unusual. They come in lots of different colours. Mine are purple which is my favourite colour, and I have also had a pair which were white. They have names that match the colour- the purple one were called grape and the white ones were called lychee white :) The good thing is that the cord matches the earphones so that the cool colour can be seen even if your hair is over the actual buds. The sound quality is very good and makes music and audio books sound good. The only problem is that they are not the kind that go right into your ear. This means that if you are using them somewhere noisy such as on public transport you may have trouble hearing what you are listening to without turning the volume up too loud.
I have several pairs of these, not only do they look good, they are durable, comfortable and most importantly, provide fantastic sound! at a cheap price these really are a must have! Would make a perfect stocking filler, great for someone who is always at the gym or running!
I've went through at least ten pair of headphones since the beginning of the year and these were one of the first ones I used. They look standard, but nice and are pretty comfortable. I really liked them. They had nice sound quality. The headphones weren't cheaply made either; they were built to be durable. However, it wasn't too long before one side of the headphones went out. So only one side worked. I bought another pair and the same thing happened to those as well. They are good headphones for their price, but you have to be careful with them. Otherwise, one earbud might go out. Then again, doesn't that happen to most headphones? It did for the majority of the headphones I bought. Plus, this brand lasted me longer than most brands at that price. It's worth the couple of bucks, but if you're expecting them to last a long time, you'll be let down.
I get through quite a lot of pairs of headphones as I am always listening to my ipod whenever I'm walking or travelling. I tend to wrap my headphones around my ipod and shove them in my bag, and I am not especially careful with them as I don't buy the expensive ones, so they do take some rough treatment.
My previous headphones finally gave up on me as the sound started to only come out of one ear and when looking for a replacement I saw these on offer in Sainsbury's. I think I paid about £3.99 for them reduced from £7.99. I thought this was really good value, as whatever price I pay I am realistic about the fact they are not going to last forever, so I consider them a fairly disposal item and I don't want to pay over the odds for them, as long as the sound is okay!
These have quite a standard look for in ear headphones. You can get them in other colours but I chose "olive black". The wire is a good length and easily long enough to put the ipod in my bag or pocket without feeling like the wire is stretched to the limit and too tense, which I hate. There is a little ring which you can move up and down to change the length of the individual wires for each ear, but I just leave it as it is as I haven't had a problem with how long those wires are.
Each earphone is marked with L and R to show the left and right ears. I do find this useful as they are more comfortable when worn in the correct ear but sometimes it is hard to tell just by looking at the shape of the ear phones! I would say the earphones are slightly larger than some. I find them very comfortable to wear and they stay in my ears perfectly without falling out or causing any irritation. I am barely aware of them when I wear them as I am so used to having earphones in a lot of the time.
The sound quality is not the absolute best, but I wasn't expecting it for £3.99. I would say the quality is decent. The sound clearly comes out of both ears. I find that when walking in areas with lots of traffic or a lot of noise, the earphones don't do the best job of cancelling out the background noise, but again, I was expecting this when I bought headphones in this price range, so I don't feel too disappointed by that.
The headphones have a standard headphone jack which should fit in any ipod, other mp3 player, computer etc.
For the price I paid, I am happy with them and think they do the job well. I have had them a few months and no issues so far. I wouldn't expect them to last longer than about 18 months max but maybe they will surprise me!
