Advantages: Amazing sound quality, superior sound quality. Amazing build quality, good styling
Disadvantages: The carry case. It is not stiff, risk of scratching or damage.
For all those young budding music producers out there, this is a definite recommended purchase. Also for the professional Dj's. They come beautifully packaged with a spiral cable to ensure that you won't break them. They also come with a 3.5mm to 1/4 inch adaptor to allow you to connect it to any professional audio device. these are dfinately a step up from the Studios, which seemed to be designed more towards the Dj Market. Although these headphones are as tough as a rock. They are made of aluminium and have a very good weight to them, however the thick leather padding which rests at the top of your head means that it takes all of the weight of, this means that you do not feel the weight on your head, so it is good for long use. The earcups also swivel backward, this means that they are great for DJ monitoring as it means that you do not have to constantly battle to get into awkward positions to hold one ear-cup on your ear. The frequency it covers is superb, I've listened to various pieces of music in this and I've heard parts that I didn't know existed. The drivers seem good and reliable I have cranked these right up and see no sign of them breaking. For those of you that own the studio pairs, I must say, these are much more comfortable, the leather padding on the ear-cups is not as soft but it is much thicker, this means that the drivers themselves are a bit more further away from your ear. These create optimum acoustics for producers, because they are more further away from your ear, it also means that it reduces the hot feeling som people experience and also reduces discomfort, this means that you can wear these headphones for prolonged periods of time. These are the prefect pair of headphones, however they do seem a little pricey.
Because they are made of aluminium they can be vulnerable to SOME scratching, Unfortunately the PRO's only come with a neoprene cae (like you get with the Solo HD's) rather than a hardshell case like you do with the studios. However we must remember that the Studios' seemed to be aimed at DJ's who are always on the go so they would need more protection, whereas the PRO's re aimed at people with high end systems that listen to music at home or even producers, this means that their headphones are unlikely to be thrown around a lot so less protection is needed
Summary: Great buy, IF you have the money.
