From the start I shall state that I am no music technician, so this review is very much one for the 'average' person. There's a place for detailed examinations of bass and treble and whatnot, and with these currently retailing at approximately £8.30 online, this isn't it.
These earphones have been around a few years now and that is reflected in the really rather low price.
Ever since I can remember I've had problems getting earphones to fit properly. Some would fall out with very little provocation, meaning I had to screw then into my ear canal in order to get them to stay put. This was uncomfortable. Even if I did find some that vaguely fitted, comfort would again be a problem the longer they were used at a time.
These however are fantastic from a comfort point of view. I had been using previous earphones while at the gym and they eventually rubbed and became uncomfortable so I wondered if these earbuds would help the problem. They really did!
The earphones come with three different sizes of rubber caps to best fit your lug-hole. Predictably I fitted mine with the biggest (which is probably suggestive of why others wouldn't fit) and they fit wonderfully. At the gym they fit snugly enough so they don't get pulled out easily. What's more is that after an hour or so of sweaty, red faced gym buffoonery they still haven't rubbed or become painful.
The sound is everything you'd want from an earphone, certainly one in this (under a tenner) price bracket. I listen to a wide and eclectic variety of music through mine and I'm more than happy with its range. Both bass and treble are more than adequately represented - besides if you're that into how good your music sounds, you buy far more expensive, larger headphones and you don't do it while you wonder whether Trevor from accounts should wear longer shorts if you've agreed to be gym buddies.
The product comes in that sort of hard plastic packaging that is virtually impossible to open, fortunately I had my plasma cutter to hand so I was in! For your £8.30 (current price) you get the earphones themselves with the medium sized caps already fitted. The cable is asymmetric, meaning one earphone cord is longer than the other. The point of this is that you loop the one going to your right ear'ole, around the back of your neck - this means you don't have the dangly cord in front you, or at least not dangling under your chin. I do like this but (again) at the gym I've found that the cable can get a little stuck to a sweaty neck (sorry bit much), this results in the right phone being pulled on. But maybe that's just me.
The jack itself is your standard size and will plug into whatever has the 3.5mm size aperture, it also is apparently 24k gold plated, I'm not sure whether that makes much difference to anything but just thought I'd say. A nice touch is that the package includes an extension cable (1.2m), not sure why I'd use it, but I like that it's there.
As mentioned before, there's the choice of rubber caps to fit all sizes ear holes. Then there's a solid plastic case to keep them all nice and clean while you're not using them, plus it helps keep the wires from tangling. Finally there's a little grey pouch to keep it all in. To be honest I've found myself not bothering with the plastic case.
Now the caveats. I have only been on the receiving end of these phones, so I'm not sure how they rate on sound leakage, nobody has complained yet however so I can draw something from that. I have also heard some accounts of the tiny speakers being a little delicate and giving up after a bit. I, however have yet to have any problems. I will of course update as necessary, as I have only been using these a relatively small amount.
I've kept mentioning the price for a good reason. For what they are, I believe these phones to be a good deal. That said I have looked around and the prices do seem to vary rather wildly.
It was my birthday recently (last one before the big 50!) and unlike many people of my age I am not really looking forward to the prospect of old age. I do not see myself 10 years on relishing the bus pass and pension era- rather preferring the idea of staying forever youthful and carrying on with my ways as I have always done.
I actually love listening to music and will often be seen if I am on public transport with my earphones on submerged in the songs, and time flies by like no other. The trouble with this is I started to notice people were moving away from me on buses. Now these were elderly people in the main, but one day even a young boy moved so I thought this was getting alarming! Now being very particular in the bathing and showering areas I suddenly realised something -they were escaping the music I was listening to and were seeking solace in alternative seating. Now as my music can often be something like "Bed of Roses by Bon Jovi travelling by public transport was actually starting to become anything but a bed of roses as more and more times I was getting disapproving looks from others.
The standard headphones supplied with MP3 players and iPods these days are often not as good as you might imagine in sound quality, or in keeping the sound in your own ears, and mine were no exception, so it was with great delight that I received a sparkling white brand new pair for my birthday from my husband!
These in ear headphones are lovely! They are £19.99 from Curry's Digital and come in a sealed box. They have many excellent features including the choice of three sizes of ear plugs, which meant I could experiment with them getting just the right snug fit. I actually have tiny ears, and I have given the same to one of my daughters who is plagued by ear trouble as a result, and I was really a bit sceptical as to whether any would fit and be comfortable, but after trying all three, rather like goldilocks trying out the bears' beds, I picked a perfect set which were just right, close and snug. The plugs are soft and very comfortable.
The sound quality was amazing compared to the standard ones I had been using and the lightweight nature of the wires (It has split cable with the 24 karat gold-plated plug) and their overall flexibility was really impressive.
I tried walking with these and there was no crackle or distortion at all, though as I have ME I am afraid I can't test them for high impact use such as running.
There is an extension supplied for the wire which allows you to comfortably put the iPod/MP3 in your pocket so that there is enough wire to drape but not too much to cause tangles, and that's another benefit this wire does not tangle anywhere as easily as my old one which was often needing Houdini to get it out of it's tangled and knotted state.
The main bonus of these is the clear and perfect sound quality which I just can't rate highly enough, it is crisp, clear and you get to feel you are actually there at the concert or the studio, and of course the added bonus is no one else has to be with you because they can't discern even the faintest hint of what is going on! They are also perfect at blocking out noise so you hear the music, not the roar of bus engine or of trains rumbling along tracks.
Being white these are aesthetically attractive and look really elegant and they also supply you with a little bag in which to store them. This is perfect as I needed one of these, and it certainly helps to eliminate tangles which used to happen with my old pair as they would sink to the bottom of my bag and suffer being crushed by other items.
They get a good rating by customers on the Curry's website. Sound quality 8/10, design 8/10, comfort 10/10, and value for money 9/10 which is testament to the high standard of this product.
I would highly recommend these and I can see them lasting me well into my twilight years which I intend to enjoy, without upsetting those around me who may be a bit more willing to succumb and a bit less keen to embrace the embers of their fading youth! For those who are in possession of iPods and MP3 players I would suggest these, especially if you find yourself always getting a seat on your own!
I have always wanted a headphone that would give high-quality sound but wolud be comfortable to use. I'm so glad I found one.
Philips SHE9501 headphone is a very great audio device.
Smaller than other headsets but exceptional in quality.
It has ultra passive noise isolation feature for that fuller crisp sound. It has 3 cap sizes so it fits all sizes of ears.
It has split cable with the 24 karat gold-plated plug.
Philips SHE9501 headphone comes with a classy carrying case with pouch for easy storage. It has in-ear seal so you can not hear the noise outside while wearing it.
Moreover, it is manufactured by Philips which has a good reputation of manufacturing high quality audio devices.
Philips SHE9501 headphone creates a very clear sound and it is so small that I could almost forget I wear them at all.
It is beautifully crafted and so elegant.

In-ear headphones for pure, premium sound. Ultra-small speakers and choice of three cap sizes deliver the sound closer to the ear while also creating a perfect in-ear seal that blocks external noise. Choice of cap size also ensures comfort fit.
