Advantages: Great bass, Good clarity, Cheap, Value for money, Accessories, 2 Year guarantee

Disadvantages: Break easily (unreliable)

I have bought many pairs of these earphones - why you may ask? Well, they keep breaking! However, these are superb earphones whilst they last, and this is why the Sennheiser CX-300ii's create such a paradox. They are in-ear earphones, which means they are efficient in delivering excellent bass and are also very noise-isolating. They have pretty good specifications and can deliver a very full, loud and clear volume at the same time.

You can either buy these earphones in the black colour or white one. I have had both (why not? I mean I've had so many pairs...) but I must say that the white ones are personally preferred! You can buy them in standard plastic packaging or the more green eco-packaging, which consists mostly of cardboard. The latter is actually better too, as it's a lot easier to get the earphones and accessories out. The plastic box is a real pain to open, and you'll end up yanking the earphones out and possibly breaking them!

Having mentioned 'accessories', I must add that you get a little Sennheiser pouch to keep your earphones in, along with different size earbuds (small, medium, large). These will definitely fit all ears, unless you are planning to buy these for your pet elephant - if you are, please let me know WHY you have a pet elephant! I use the small earbuds and they are quite comfortable - they don't hurt when I move my jaw or head and they don't really hurt after a long time with them in either. They fit in the ear well and stay in during exercise, which makes them excellent for running and other sports.

The wire of these earphones is good in the way that it doesn't wind up on itself, like some may do. However, being a wire, it can generally get a bit tangled in a pocket or bag. It's certainly long enough but not ridiculously long that you have inches of wire hanging out your pocket! One of the earbuds is on a shorter wire where it splits (the left one), so you can bring this one straight to your left ear, whilst wearing the right earbud wire round the back of your head (from left to right), for a comfortable fit and no annoying wires on the front of your neck!

The sound quality from these is superb. The bass is excellent and they are very powerful earphones. They have a good frequency range too from 19Hz to 21,000Hz, which is a little better than most other earphones, meaning you will have a more complete sound. Despite the power of these bass-enhanced earphones, the clarity is unmistakable. Even at louder volumes, they maintain crystal clear quality and simply deliver a very full impressive audio.

The earbuds themselves are slightly round in shape, with a Sennheiser logo on the outside. They aren't terribly unique, but you won't be seen as stupid wearing them! The audio jack has a gold covering to it, which helps to improve the sound quality too. This audio jack is pretty sturdy, and has never been the obvious problem for the earphones breaking. What seems to be the problem is one of the ear pieces - usually the left one, which randomly stops working after a while. This is terribly annoying and I don't know why it happens. If you buy these, it is certainly worth using the pouch as it helps to protect them from any damage. Also, keeping them out of bags with heavy books in and other equipment will prevent damage, which can cause them to break immediately! Mine tended to last longer when I stopped wrapping them round my iPod and just carried them loosely in my pocket instead. However you do get a great 2 year guarantee with these, which comes in VERY useful when they do break.. if they do! I have used this many times, contacting the company that has sold me them, and they were always happy to send me a new pair or give me a refund, providing I send the old ones back (namely Amazon.co.uk this is, or 3rd party retailers through them).

The retail price may appear to be around £40, but do not fall for this! You can get genuine ones for around £15 online. Many sites sell these, and they are extremely popular as they are cheap and of great quality - good value for money! They are certainly worth buying, and if yours do unfortunately break, at least you have the guarantee as a back up. They are ideal for music with plenty of bass, but are excellent providing full clear sound for all types of music. They set the atmosphere nicely when used to watch videos or movies too.
