Advantages: Cheap, sound good, durable, easy fit, drown out background noise, come in 4 different colours, long
Disadvantages: Will eventually break, but only after about half a year of everyday use
The Sennheiser CX-300 headphones have been out for around two years now, and are generally recognized to be great value in ear headphones for everyday use. They are cheap (cost around £18) and they also have a very good sound.
The headphones fit inside the ear, and therefore reduce outside noise that you do not want to disturb the music. Some people will find these headphones to be quite uncomfortable, as they can itch a bit. But Sennheiser has kindly included three different ear bud types in the packaging, so whatever size your ears are, they are bound to fit, making it a more comfortable experience.
In terms of durability these headphones last for a while. They are designed to be cheap everyday use headphones, so they wont just fall apart after a few hours use, in my experience I have found these headphones to be quite sturdy and strong, with everyday use I found that they lasted around 6 months, which in my opinion is impressive, I have had other headphones before that have not even reached the one month mark, but these do far better than that.
Now the important factor that comes when buying these headphones, the sound quality. I found the bass to be very strong, and the higher sounds were sharp and clear. These headphones for me did not provide anything that was truly exceptional, but for the price range the sound quality certainly is very good, and I was impressed with the performance I was given from these particular headphones.
The price is the real killer here, at a safe £15-£18, you cannot go wrong with a set of buds like these, for a similar price from other manufacturers, you would not really be finding the same sound quality and durability, but something far worse, it is also generally quite hard to find a set of in ear headphones for the price, but in this area the CX-300s get full marks.
Due to their long term success, Sennheiser has now released these classics in a multitude of colours. You can now purchase them in blue, red, silver and black, giving lots of choice in buying them and allowing customers to purchase the exact style that suits them the best.
These headphones are very small, but the wire that they are attached to is about a metre long, in my experience I found this to be very useful, the mp3 player that I was using with them could be used at a distance and they would not come out of my ears or out of the mp3 player socket, they were good in this regard, but the wire is very thin and if you're not careful it could break easily.
I would recommend these headphones to the daily commuter, who wants a pair of headphones by a well known sound brand for a cheap price. These headphones are made by Sennheiser, one of the famous names within the sound industry, and sound very good for the price. The in ear system also helps to drown out most if not all background sound, making for a much better user experience, they are also durable and will not break while commuting for a while. I would certainly recommend these headphones, as I have had a great amount of pleasure, they have not failed me yet, and perform exceptionally well for the price that I paid for them, well done Sennheiser, you have created a very special product here, 5 stars.
