Over £50 is a lot to spend on a set of earphones, so for this sort of price they need to offer something above those that you get with your MP3 player, or those that cost a lot less. Sennheiser are well known for their earphones and microphones, so these CX 95 Style earphones should, in theory, be very good.

The packaging installs a lot of confidence, weird how it does that to me with certain products. The magnetic catch on the box makes you think "wow, this must be a cool product". Opening the box reveals the earphones, plus an extension cable for them (so you can extend their reach by about 1m). You also get three set of silicone sleeves for different sized ears and a little case to keep everything in.

So after a good start unpacking the CX95's I was keen to test them. I did this with both an iPod classic and an iPod touch. Both iPods produced similar results, with the CX95's sounding very warm and smooth. The bass (or low frequency) reproduction was very impressive, the mid-range was very detailed and it was only the higher frequencies that lacked a little. This is weird because it seems that many of the Sennheiser range seem to lack a little in this area, unless you go up to their less portable ranges. Anyway, it was nothing to worry about, because overall the sound was very very satisfying.

The build quality is awesome, the cable remained tangle free, and the silicone sleeves (medium size for me) meant that these earphones were very comfortable. I tested them for well over an hour and my ears did not complain at all. These are a great upgrade over the standard supplied iPod earphones and offer a much better sound that anything I have tested under the £30 to £40 mark.
