I bought these headphones back in 2005, when I was DJ'ing. I had basic sennheiser headphones, But i was looking for something higher spec.
These headphones provide probably the best sound I've heard from headphones and are ideal for all different types of genres of music.
These headphones came in a basic packaged box, and came with a year's free warranty.
All parts of the headphones are detachable, which means that any part of the headphones can be replaced. Excellent if you damage the headphones and saves having to fork out for another pair.
Sennheiser have an excellent reputation for professional headphones, which is what made me choose these headphones initially.
The sound that comes from these headphones is incredibly clear. Basses are warm, deep, and punchy. Trebles and highs are clear but perfectly in proportion with the rest of the sound at any volume, which is important particularly for DJ'ing and sound control; these features meant that I could identify all the different frequencies and manipulate the sound to provide a better quality through PA systems. The headphones tend to be industry standard throughout the music industry and it's easy to see why.
The headphones are very comfortable with ample cushioning for your ears. I've had them on for 2-3 hours at a time and don't get uncomfortable at all. There is only one wire which protrudes which means there is no tangle and there is no risk of the headphones getting in the way. Perhaps the wire could be a little longer but not such that the existing length is uncomfortable.
The build quality of the headphones is excellent. The headphones are capable of providing a high volume sounds for hours upon end, without causing any damage to the headphones, so they prove to be very reliable. The plastics used are well made and give an all round feel of high end quality. The left headphone swivels so that for monitoring you can keep them out of the way for as long as you want to listen to the main sound of the music. The band is split in two again to increase comfort of the headphones.
I have had the headphones for 3 years now, and there has not been a single deterioration in sound quality. At the cushioning there is slight wear but not such that it would warrant replacing, however the advantages of these headphones are that if I wanted to, I could. These headphones are likely to last for at least another 5 years and I'm not planning to upgrading or replacing these headphones because they are more than fit for purpose.
