Advantages: What you hear is what the sound engineer intended

Disadvantages: A bit big and bulky

We have 2 pairs of the HD280 pro 64 ohm model. One pair is used by my son for drumming practice and use on planes and trains and the other is used as a hi fi headphone.

These are a full sized circumaural or around the ear design and the pads sit against the side of your head and not on your ears. They do block external noise very well and on planes their passive noise reducing ability is as good as many much more expensive active headphones such as the Bose. They are a tight fit but can be adjusted and they even fit my big head when I have my reading glasses on. They can be folded inside themselves for travel and the ear cups can be rotated so they prove very usefull for DJs.

Sound.

Very flat frequency responce with little colouration, just as you would expect from a monitor. Good soundstage and instrument separation and even though they are a full sized 64 ohm design, my mp3 player can drive them to a volume that can be enjoyed whilst travelling. We have used ours with mp3s, Sony discmans and have our own aeroplane adapter for listening to the inflight movie.

They come with a gold plated 3.5mm plug and a screw on quarter inch or 6mm full sized adaptor.

Cons

Some people have said tha the headbands can crack, both our sets have had a lot of use over 2 years by several users and they are still as good as new. These are not made in the PRC like the lower spec modesl, but are built in Ireland. Spare parts are easily available.

Summary: Sadly underrated pro quality monitor headphones

I think you can do better than this. Perhaps you might want to take a look around at other reviews here before you put any more reviews up. Too many in one short period isn't such a good idea.
