I wanted to purchase a pair of high quality headphones for a reasonable price and when I began to look round searching the internet and looking round shops one brand kept appearing, Sennheiser. I received numerous recommendations of this brand and they are well known for high quality audio products. When I compared the headphones with similar priced items from competitors such as Sony I was told that the Sennheiser products would last longer and would provide a better sound quality and so I decided that I would buy a pair of Sennheiser HD 465 headphones. They were a very reasonable price compared with many other products and I managed to get a good deal on the headphones. If there was one thing that made me think twice before I purchased the headphones it was most definitely the product design which I personally did not find to be very stylish but since I was only going to use the product at home I did not let this deter me and the style and colour scheme of the headphones was not really an important factor when I was looking for a product. The headphones are extremely comfortable and I have often worn them for several hours at a time which can be almost impossible with other pairs of headphones due to itchiness or discomfort caused after a while. I have had a number of other headphones in the past from makes such as Sony and I feel that this pair is by far the best quality I have ever had. They seem very well made unlike other pairs of headphones which often feel cheap. They extend very easily to fit any size of head (no matter how big!) and remain comfortable. The sound quality is extremely good and the clarity is fantastic!.
Overall I would highly recommend these headphones to anyone who like me is merely a casual listener who needs them for personal use but for those looking for something more I believe that it is worth spending a little bit more on a more professional pair. Despite this, this pair of headphones is very good value and suitable for most people's needs. The only disadvantages i could find are that the are quite bulky and the wires are quite long which can often get in the way.
Now obviously these aren't as good as a pair of £100 headphones, but that's because they're a third of the price, however they are a brilliant pair of headphones, and for £30 they're a steal. The headphones look cool, I love the blue behind the black, it looks great. The headphones have an adjustable headband, so it fits any head size, or even any hairstyle. They have a good long 3m cable, so you can get up and move around a fair bit while they're plugged into the stereo or whatever your listening to it on. The headphones are comfortable to wear, and I can wear them for ages without my ears hurting. Sound is good and crisp, and the bass is extremely good. The only problem I've had with these, is the same problem I have had with all Sennheiser headphones, including my pair of HD 435s, is that there is just too much sound that comes out of them at a high volume. I really do think this a problem that needs to be addressed, as it stops me from using them in public places, as I like to listen to my music loud.
So, to sum it all up, if you want a decent pair of headphones with good sound, for a cheap price, to use at home, these are the headphones you are looking for.
I bought these headphones around two years ago and feel that function pretty much as brilliantly now as they did then! They have a fantastic bass response. I often use them to play my bass guitar through on full volume, with no compression. They provide back a fantastic deep bass boom and have a real sense of presence unlike some other headphones where the sound feels more distant or spaced-out.
I also do a lot of track producing and mixing with them in production software such as garageband. For such purposes they are good, but obviously not as fantastic several hundred £ studio headphones. For example i have noticed that they are not so great at very high trebles sounds really beyond 20kHz where the quality diminishes slightly, however no headphones (atleast for this price!) can have the balance between tons of bass response and high attack for treble so these headphones do comparatively well at both but focus towards the bass-lovers.
They are also extremely comfortable, i can wear them for several hours before needing to take them off and let my ears breathe. Do note that your ears do get rather hot in these headphones and they can therefore feel a little irritated after long sittings.
They also look rather stylish, with the sophisticated black and highlights of blue for the speaker cones. But they do have quite a leak.
