Advantages: Good sound and volume.
Disadvantages: Earpieces are a little big.
I bought these in-ear headphones to go with my iPod when my iPod speakers finally gave up the ghost. I chose these because they were a reasonable price (11 pounds) and from a brand that I have heard very good things about when it comes to audio. And I was pretty satisfied with my choice.
The headphones come only in white (or at least where I bought them they only had white) and have a 1.2m cord. That is more than enough I have found. I can have my iPod in my pocket, or in my handbag and the cord reaches easily to my ears without me ever feeling like my movements are being restricted. The packet advertises a flexible body on the actual earphones, but I must say this is a bit of a stretch on the part of the manufacturer. The body does bend, but only half a centimetre or so, and only if you're applying a bit of pressure, certainly it wouldn't help much for gentle movements of the cord or anything like that.
The earphones are made from a fairly soft rubbery sort of plastic. Mine didn't come with the foam covering as shown in the picture above, but I find them comfortable all the same. The plastic is quite soft and doesn't hurt the ears at all. The only problem is that they are a bit too big for my ears! I do have rather small ears, but still, they seem to fall out quite easily - more so than my iPod earphones. So if you have small ears I am not sure that these should be your first choice.
My other small gripe is the jack. Rather than being straight from the cord (like the Ipod speakers), the jack on these is at right angles to the cord. I find that this is just a tad awkward when my iPod is sitting in my handbag or pocket as it seems like the cord must be getting bent back on itself a bit. It does make it a bit easier to wrap the earphones around the player when you're finished listening though.
In terms of sound, the sennheisers definitely don't disappoint. For one thing I find them a lot louder than my last headphones, which means that even with the volume less than half way up I can still hear everything perfectly, even when on the tube or whatever. The earphones are specifically built to capture as much bass as possible, and I think they do a pretty adequate job. I do definitely feel that the full range of sound is well covered, especially for in-ear headphones, which are never going to be as good as full headphones. Turning the volume right up they seem to handle the increase well without a lot of distortion.
Would I recommend these then? When the Apple iPod speakers are at least a pound more expensive, and these speakers give better volume and bass coverage, definitely. As said, there might be something better fitting out these for those with small ears, but for the price these are definitely a good option.
Summary: Buy them to go with your iPod!
