Advantages: Great protection, Superb sound quality, Reliable, Sleek design

Disadvantages: None

After getting extremely sick and tired of my standard Ipod earphones breaking time and time again I opted for earphones with hopefully more quality about them. It was Christmas when I was given Sennheiser MX 600 headphones which retail at around £20 and I love everything about them! Sennheiser are a German audio electronics company with a sound reputation for top quality headphones. (Excuse the pun). The name comes from the Sennheiser family who privately own the company. I must admit when I got these headphones I was apprehensive, as although I was aware of the brand, I did not know much about them. I was of the impression that standard Ipod earphones were as good as it gets in terms of sound quality. Oh how I was wrong.

When I opened the box for these headphones I thought I was being treated like a King. They have a sleek silver design, part of it reflecting, with the left and right earphones marked clearly. The earphones are your usual style earphones thankfully as I personally have never been a fan of those in ear ones. They are wired earphones of average length which work well no matter how tall you are. I can have my Ipod in my trouser pocket and use these earphones without any strain. The wire is black and is initially one wire until it branches off into two seperate wires for each ear at a suitable place.

When I said I thought I was being treated like a King when I opened the box it was not just because of the earphones. It was because of the unexpected additions to the earphones which really add value to the product. You are given a little thing with a rubber like texture to put each earphone in securely. You can then put this in a lovely black, silky case and the combination of the two helps protect the earphones from damage and becoming dirty. I am thankful for this as I can put my earphones in the pockets of my jeans, in the small case without risking damage as that was how I broke a pair of my Ipod earphones. This also makes the ease of transporting the earphones very easy and leaves you with no excuse if you damage them.

As I mentioned earlier, I was not aware of how good earphone sound quality could get. The product description says that Sennheiser's 'Basswind' system helps create a superior, bass driven stereo sound experience. Now that all sounds well and good in a marketing brochure for Sennheiser but it truly is something you can really feel. I noticed how much louder I could get my songs to play with these earphones compared to my old standard Ipod earphones. The bass and overall sound quality also seems a lot crisper and due to this and everything else I have said I am definately making sure I look after these earphones better.

Sennheiser has a fantastic reputation in the headphones industry and these earphones definately live up to that.

Summary: Superb sound quality in a great package.

I've been looking to get some decent but not too expensive replacement headphones - think I'll give these a try.

I've had Sennheiser headphones for longer than I can remember (certainly 20+ years) and it would take a lot to convince me to change!
