Sennheiser MX 680 Adidas
Advantages: Look good. If you like luminous green
Disadvantages: Sound quality, wire length, ill-fitting ear pieces
I bought these from Amazon about a year ago for just under £25, which at the time, was quite a lot for headphones for me. I read their reviews for these, they should have been enough of a hint to avoid these . The reviews were so-so. Some really good, some really bad.
I had originially chosen these because they claimed to be 'sports headphones' as I wanted some quality ones for the gym as I detest in-ear headphones, especially for the gym! A lot of new phones tend to come with these and the ones that had come with my iPod had broke so was desperate for something to take to the gym that wouldn't constantly be falling out my ears whilst exercising. I believe I chose them because I thought if Adidas are willing to put their name to them they can't be that bad at all!
How wrong I was. Even though they come with different size ear pieces to suit everyone, they still didn't stay in very well. Although they did stay in my ears, they didn't stay in properly so the sound quality was very poor and was hardly worth having them in at all and was constantly pushing them back into the right place. The small black rubber bits made to suit 'all ears' if they ever came loose from the headphone, thats it, they weren't going back on again! so every time I pulled them out my pocket or bag it would either be half hanging off or had come off somewhere in transit, and with it being such a tiny piece, looking for it in a gym bag was not an easy task!
The wire came with a detachable part which sounds like a bonus so if you have an arm band for your iPod/MP3 it was a reasonable length for you. But I never got round to purchasing one of these so the wire for everyone else in world without an armband was either far too long, or far too short.
When the headphones were delivered it came with a very lengthy manual and lots of excessive packaging for just a small set of head phones. It all seemed quite unnecessary to be honest. I bought a big pair of retro headphones after these which came with probably less packaging than these did!
I think one of the only good things I can tell you about these headphones is that when they did stay in my ears properly, the sound quality was.. reasonable. and they look.. average. So there isn't really anything good that stands out about this product.
I've never come across a good set of headphones suitable for sport, the only I could recommend are the Sony Gumy or Apple headphones. But just because they say Adidas on them, doesn't mean they are really any better than any other headphones designed for a sporty person!
Not sure about any other Sennheiser products, I was never really tempted to buy from them again after this pair.
Summary: Not bad quality, just not for me.
