Advantages: Superb Bass and Treble performance
Disadvantages: Short cable, not noise cancelling
A couple of years ago now I bought a pair of these headphones after reading some great reviews in What-HiFi. Originally I bought these for £30 and they served me well up until just before christmas when I was using them with my mp3 player and the wire came lose and the sound was completely gone. I was distraught.
Luckily for my sanity I found a new pair of these headphones for the bargain price of £16.99 from Amazon. I was so pleased because these headphones are one of the best I have ever heard and certainly up to at least £50.
The Sennheiser PX 100's are regarded by most HiFi enthusiasts as the best headphones of their kind under £50. They even beat a lot of headphones just under the £100 price mark. That is something special for a £35 pair of headphones.
So What is that is really so good about them, why do all the HI-FI journalists purr about them?. I'll tell you why.
These headphones have extraordinary bass performance for headphones so small. It's clear, crisp bass that is on offer here and you will never hear it strain with complicated bass led music like Massive Attack for instance.
It also has the subtle talent for vocals. You hear things that you would reasonably expect in a pair of speakers costing £150. There really is fantastic detail here and it is a real pleasure to listen to them.
The only slight drawbacks are that the cable is only 1.4m long. This though is easily sorted out with a headphone extension cable which you can buy for no more than about £5 and it is really worth it if you want to watch films or listen to music late at night and still want to hear everything.
And also these are not really good for outdoor listening due to the fact that they are not noise cancelling headphones. You can however pick up a pair of headphones from Sennheiser which are the noise cancelling version of these ones. They are not quite as good in the sound department but if you value noise cancelling then those are worth a try.
As I mentioned earlier you can pick up a new pair of these Sennhesier headphones for about £20 and that is a real bargain because even the full price of £35 is great value and anyone who knows anything about headphones know the reputation Sennheiser has for making outstanding headphones.
If you are looking for a pair of quality headphones for around £30 then gives these a test, you won't be dissapointed by the sound they give.
Summary: Astounding headphones
