Advantages: No more rattling noise when you touch the cable
Disadvantages: Double the price of a standard Sony set
I bought a pair of these earphones because I wanted some that didn't rattle around in my ears.
I found that the Sony/Sennheiser kind that have a rubber sleeve covering the speaker tend to transmit noise of anything that touches the cables.
Whereas, the expanding foam buds of these Shure SE210s provide a sort of sound pillow that stops that kind of irritation.
The sound clarity is very good but you do need to play around with the different sizes of foam tips to get the one that suits your ear canals perfectly. When you try it you'll know because whatever you're playing with sound so much clearer.
I'm not a sound buff (I can't tell the difference between a CD and vinyl!) but I don't need to turn my music up as high when using these earphones, so that's definitely better for my ears and for other people on the train.
They come in a nice carry case, good build quality, and with a generously long cable which has a connector between the phones and the main wire (in case you damage the main wire you can just replace it without having to fork out for new phones).
Overall, I'd say they're the best quality earphones I've owned and if you feel like treating yourself to some that are better than the bundled ones, or if you have some ear canals like me, then they're worth getting.
Summary: Worth paying more for something that fits
