If your an audio enthusiast that only demands the highest quality of audio sound, you will definitely love the Shure SE420 Earphones. At around 220 euros, most people might think money waisted, but for the audiophile its money well spent because of its high end luxury design and awe inspring sound that it produces. With the devices wide sound range, the listener gets the chance to hear almost every level of audio bliss, from great mid-tones, bass, and most notably superior treble, high sounds.

TECHNOLOGY
Compared to previous models the SE420 is the first to incorporate a twin driver model design. This means that inside each individual earphone are two separate mini speakers, one for the high frequency sounds and the other for the low ones. Just like in car audio a crossover is used to seperate each individual audio stream to make sure it goes to the correct speaker. Its amazing that all this technology is happening under a quarter inch device!

PACKAGING AND INSTALLATION
When I first opened the box the first thing I noticed was the high level of build quality put into the device. Everything from its black, grey appearance to its heavy duty modular cable design just seemed exquisite. The modular cable design means that it has multiple parts that can be interchangeable and the design also allows the use of extra optional devices like Shures "Push to Hear" module. To accomodate the variety of ear sizes, Shure includes 3 different types of switchable ear sleeves. I personally recommend the foam inserts because to me they offered the best sound and were by far the most comfortable. Unlike other earphones, Shure recommends wearing them draped up and over the back of the ear. By wearing them this way the earphone can maximize entry in the ear canal and the draped over wire makes it less prone to coming out while doing things with lots of movement like jogging or biking. They are designed this way because it offers excellent portability and comfort but mainly to cancel out any kind of outside noise so that the listener can get the best audio experience.

SOUND EXPERIENCE
To get the most out of any headphones especially high end ones like these I personally recommend that all audio played should be lossless. So nothing short of Flac should be acceptable. With that being said the sound experience on these was nothing short of perfect. It sounded like I was listening to a live concert performance almost every time I played a different song. After listening to a wide variety of songs, I came to the conclusion that everything sounded great. Electronic audio particularly sounded brilliant because it doesnt feature any lyrics and it maximizes use of the full audio spectrum especially in Drum n Bass songs. Tracks like "Hold your Colour" by the group Pendulum sounded almost surreal and gave me a true sensory experience, not only by sound but unusually by sight and touch too. I know it sounds wierd but it really does bring out those 3 senses to play. If you dont believe me go get yourself a pair and find out for yourself because when you do, you will be giving yourself the best audio experience imaginable.
