For Christmas I treated my 12 year old son to a pair of skull candy aviator earphones. He had been previously owned numerous pairs of cheap earphones that never lasted long and had poor sound quality. My son takes good care of his belongings and so I was happy to spend more money to get him something that would not only last, but would give much better sound quality. As I had quite a bit saved up in Amazon vouchers this is where I began my search. My son had told me that he would prefer to have a pair of over ear phones and so this narrowed down the search. After looking through numerous reviews, I decided to buy a pair of Skull candy aviators as these had positive reviews and were smaller than many other brands so would be more suitable for a child. I paid £34.99, but see they are now on sale for the increased price of £44.99. The headphones are available in several colour choices including all black, black with blue ear cups, black with pink ear cups and white. I opted for a black pair as these were the cheapest option.
What you get for your money.
I was suitable impressed with the smart slide open white box that the headphones were packed in as it promised quality. Inside is a cloth storage bag and instructions for use. On Christmas morning my son was thrilled to open his new headphones and couldn't wait to try them out.
They really do look very stylish in black with a silver metal frame. The headphones are quite small and light and the ear pieces are shaped giving them an* aviator look*.
The design is robust and shouts quality. The ear pieces are made from soft touch memory foam so mould to your ear shape making them really comfortable to wear. The headband can be adjusted and they fit my sons head perfectly without pinching. We recently took the headphones with us on a long haul flight and when not in use my son was able to wrap the headphones around his neck without discomfort.
The headphones have an inline microphone that works with any Ios operating system. My son likes to talk to his friends on Skype so a microphone was something he wanted his new headphones to have. The inline microphone controls enable you to change tracks as well as take phone calls.
Obviously the sounds quality of any headphones is of paramount importance and these don't disappoint. Compared to the cheap earphones he had experienced in the past these are streets ahead! The sound is crystal clear with excellent bass. In addition these headphones cut out nearly all exterior noise. I have used the headphones to listen to a film on my Ipad and was really surprised at just how good the sound quality is.
Another big positive is that these headphones come with a 1.3 metre cord length that doesn't get tangled! Overall I think these are superb headphones that are well worth the money.
Now I remember my first computer headphones were Skullcandy and they are beast! Now these have a really smoove design that fits really great and nice with your ears. Sound quality could do better but it can turn up the volume really really loud. Now the look of these headphones are not that great or fancy but for the money they offering you it's really great and the shipping is really fast. You can tell by the brand they are very famous and they are the best company after beats by dre in MY OPINION. The reason Beats are better than these headphones is Beats are adjustable and quality is the best you can expirience. The reason these are Most Wanted products is because they are cheap and it is great chance if you don't like them wait for a while for the price that come up and you sell them to make some profit some money :)
I have to start off saying that i collect headphones for a hobby and without a doubt id prefer purchasing one these over dre beats any day. the reason behind this is firstly due to the price, £10 - 40 is a fraction of the price of the well known dre beats although they consistently known for their perfected sound quality plus being comfortably suited to any head shape they are all meant for a single purpose which is to transfer sound. Secondly everything is meant to break over a period of time regardless of how well u may take care of your possession and to say that this will break over 2yrs on average is sad to say but from paying £10 for 10years i'd say that's of decent quality.
skull candy is known for the consistent rate of quality and they are known for it. thats my experience to this brand of headphones.
These headphones are the first of this style that I have owned. They are amazing! I paid about £50 and was unsure about spending that amount on headphones but they were absolutely worth every penny. They work on every level. They look incredible. They have the perfect balance between smart and cool. I feel very stylish when I am wearing them. They were bought for use at home but due to the quality, I have started using them around town as well. I love them.
The sound quality is second to none. It is better to listen to music through these headphones that to sit next to the stereo and listen. The headphones block out most external sound so you are left with the crisp clear sound from these amazing headphones.
Finally, they are a very comfortable wear. They are quite lightweight, can be adjusted to fit your head perfectly and are extremely well cushioned. This is partly I guess for comfort and partly to block out external sound.
This is a product that you can tell has had several experts involved in designing. I cannot fault them at all and would highly recommend them. Worth every single Penny!
These are the best headphones I ever owned. Of course I expected nothing less from Skullcandy... They were brought to me as a gift and I didn't fall for them from the beginning. The reason? I would simply prefer something more similar to my previous colourful, funky (Skullcandy as well!) headphones! But it didn't take me long to realise that these babies have their own way of standing out! They are simply the most stylish, trendy and unique headphones you will see around!
But enough about appearances! The quality, oh the quality! If you love music you should not compromise for anything less! Block out the annoying noises around you and listen to whatever you want in the best quality sound you can possibly get from a portable device!
On the downside, they are not so easy to carry around. That is, you cannot just throw them in your purse of your pocket in case you need them. This is definitely something you should consider. As for me, I like them so much, that I almost consider them to be an accessory, a part of my outfit!
Skullcandy Aviator 2.0 may be more pricey than your average pair of headphones, but why not spoil yourself once in a while?
These headphones by Skullcandy were bought for me as gift. I listen to music on my iPod touch all the time so I was absolutely delighted to upgrade from my standard earphones. When bought they cost around £70-80 from shops such as Amazon, HMV or Tesco.
--- The Look ---
The unusual shape of these headphones resembles aviator sunglasses (hence the name) and just like the sunglasses they look not only really sleek and stylish but also well-made. Aside from the plain black ones shown above (which are the ones I have) they are also available in a range of different colours including white, brown & gold, green & black, royal blue and red & black. The ear pieces themselves are made of polycarbonate while the ear cushions are made of soft memory foam to mould to the shape of your ear. These are connected by a suede headband with leather pads. They are reasonably lightweight at 200g (you can barely feel them on your head) with a 1.3m wire. Moreover they also come with a lovely black carry bag with a zip.
--- Features ---
Most of the features of these headphones are geared towards maximising the sound quality. The main one is called "Supreme Sound Tuning". This is basically designed to maximise the balance of bass, vocals and highs (I'm not entirely sure what highs are) to eliminate any tinny, muted or low quality sounds. An unusual feature is the cord which has a nylon cord that makes it feel a lot nicer on the skin than the usual rubbery ones. It feels warmer and also does not get as tangled.
--- Sound Quality ---
Skullcandy describe these headphones as an "ultimate audio experience" and I have to agree - the sound quality of these headphones is absolutely brilliant. I have never owned any set of speakers, earphones or headphones which have resulted in a better quality of sound. It has a fantastic bass that gives a really deep, powerful element to the music but even better is the clarity which literally lets you hear every element of the music perfectly. It almost feels like you are listening to a live performance except better as you can hear the vocals as perfectly as the rest of the music without them being drowned out. The thick ear cushions also block out pretty much all background noise which lets you completely enjoy the music.
--- Functionality & Usage ---
The soft foamy cushion makes these really comfortable to wear for however long you want. I sometimes wear these for hours at a time and they are surprisingly airy - I never have a problem with sweaty ears. They are easily adjusted for a comfortable but firm fit and feel very secure when worn. They don't slip at all and I've never had them fall off.
--- Summary ---
Overall I absolutely love these headphones - I use them as often as I can and they definitely let you enjoy music much more than standard earphones or indeed many speakers. Although expensive I feel they are definitely worth the price for the sheer sound quality and the fact that are very durable and long-lasting (I can't see myself having to replace them for many years) so I would definitely recommend.
I listen to music.....A LOT!! When I needed a new pair of headphones I did quite a bit of research before I made my purchase. I'm so glad that I did because these are amazing.
First impressions last and even the packaging is enough to get you excited. Inside, the headphones come in a fashionable black zip back with the skullcandy logo embossed. Inside the case, aswell as the headphones, you get a cleaning cloth and cable both of which also have the skullcandy logo.
One nice little feature is that the cable isn't like most, it has the look and texture of a shoelace which is handy if you have the wire underneath your clothing as is isn't cold and uncomfortable like some others.
The sound quality s simply stunning. I listen to a vast range of music from D&B, rock to classical. No matter what I listen to, these headphones embraced it perfectly.
About as crisp a sound that I have ever heard to the point where you can literally pick out every instrument being played and every intricate note (even some that I had not heard before).
On top of all this, the overall look of the headphones is superb, sleek and stylish and I have had many compliments about them and people asking where to get them.
I recommend these to everybody I know. You simply can't go wrong.
As expected,a stunning design and a great sound quality from one of the best brands on earphones and headphones for teens.
A work of art, eyecandy for everyone and a great choice of materials. The headphone cups are made of
polycarbonate , while the earcups are made of memory foam wrapped in leather.
Comfort:The leather coated foam earcups provide a great and soft surface, making the headphones pretty easy to wear for an extended period of time. The cord is pretty long ,1.3 m ,which allows a comfort on moving around while the metal runners can be used to adjust the cups ,creating a nice sense of comfort.Lightweight and can be worn ,without discomfort, with glasses.
Sound:The sound,as usual,is amazing.Crystal clear on all volumes with a great bass sensation. On 100% volume, you feel like being on the front row of a heavy metal concert.
The sound is great, the price is right for their quality, great design and very comfortable.
If you ask me,its a great gift for everyone that loves music, especially teenagers who seek style on their headphones
~*~*~*Skullcandy Supreme Sound Aviator~*~*~*
Skullcandy Aviators are at the top of Skullcandy large range of headphones, the price for a pair of Skullcandys starts right at the bottom with a pair of Ink'd Earbuds coming in at a pocket friendly £9.95 right up to a wallet breaking set of Aviators on ear headphones priced at £121.11. The price of the Aviators fluctuates massively; the pair I am reviewing cost £160 six months ago from HMV in Derby.
The packaging for these headphones is very sturdy, as you would expect from something in this price range. Sliding the black box from its white sleeve feels like opening something extra special. Opening the first flap on the black box we are greeted with a multi layered cut out of the Skullcandy logo, it looks good and builds the anticipation of what it to come. Once all the flaps have been opened we find nestled within a moulded foam cut out a leather pouch. Zipped in the soft leather pouch are the Aviators.
~*~*~* First Impressions~*~*~*
First impressions are good. Once the headphones are liberated from the quality packaging I can see that the build quality is top notch. The headphones I own are black with silver detailing, they are available in other colours but I think the black ones look more for the money. The headphones are discreetly decorated with the Skullcandy logo. The headphones do look stylish.
The Aviators are easy to adjust; the cups can be slid up and down metal runners individually allowing for perfect fit. The surrounding to each ear cup is made from memory foam wrapped in soft to the touch leather. The leather band that sits on the head has another layer of memory foam coated in faux suede. The 1.3 meter cable has the look and feel of a shoe lace. Everything is geared toward comfort, the combined weight of the headphones and cable is a little over 200 grams.
The headphones are very light to wear; I can't feel them on my head. The shape of the cups moulds perfectly to my ears even with my glasses on. With all that memory foam padding I did expect to have an over heated ears problem but that has never been an issue.
So after all the styling and comfort what do these actually sound like?
I am not technically adept when it comes to music, I know what I like to hear and I like what I am hearing through these headphones. The sound is crystal clear. At 50% volume the sound is comfortable; I can hear what is going on around me which is what I like as I get a tad paranoid in headphones. At 100% it is epic. I feel like I am having a personal audience with who ever I am listening to, I can't hear anything else that is going on around me and the noise leakage is minimal so I know I am not disturbing those around me.
My Husband has a bit of an issue with the volume and bass, he says there is not enough bass at high volume, but he is a bass monster.

Polycarbonate Headphone Cups, Memory Foam ear cups, Mic3: control any IOs device, take/make calls, volume control, play/pause and track control, Fully foldable headphones for easy storage, soft leather carry case, Impedance: 34 ohms, sound pressure level: 104dB (1mW/500Hz) THD: less then 0.1%, Weight without cable 200 grams, 1.3 meter nylon braided cable, removable cable, speaker diameter of 40mm, 3.5mm gold plated connection, stereo, 20Hz frequency.
The sound is great; it is nice and clear at low and high volumes. My Husband was disappointed with the level of bass and volume as the ones he tried in store were louder and had more bass. The headphones are comfortable and light weight to wear. I personally don't think these are worth paying over £100 and for that reason alone I am removing a star.
Thank you for reading.
