PRICE
I bought my Skull Candy earphones from Argos for £9.99, reduced from £14.99. I get through a lot of earphones so I don't like to spend a fortune on them. Having said that the really cheap ones don't give much volume and break very easily so I usually look for something around the £10 mark. I've seen Skull Candy products in the shops before and loved the designs however have been put off by the prices, so I was pleased when I spotted these for under a tenner. At the till we were offered replacement insurance should the earphones break, for £1.99. However in the description that Argos provide themselves next to the product it says the manufacturer gives a life time guarantee. Needless to say I did not take the insurance.
STYLE
The earphones come in 5 colours - Black, white, orange, purple and blue. The buds that go in the ear, logo and wire are black. The earphones look good and the little splash of colour makes a change from black or white. I got the purple ones to match my ipod and the shade is only slightly different. I think Skull Candy made these with the ipod colour range in mind. Of course these come with a standards headphone jack at the end so you can use them with al sorts of devices.
COMFORT
One thing I thought was really good was the fact these come with three different sizes of earbuds so you make sure they will fit well. I tried all three out and decided the small ones were best and the fit my ears really well and even wearing them whilst walking and moving about, they rarely fall out and are very comfortable.
PERFORMANCE
The most important bit, what's the sound like? Well, very clear. Even on fairly loud, there was no tinny vibrations or distortion in the sound. I am very pleased with the quality. If you are somewhere very noisy these don't cancel out all background noise, though they don't claim to either. This isn't something I'm too worried about however. I usually use earphones on the bus or train and I don't want to blast out the person next to me anyway. For someone like me these are great. I usually listen to my ipod on about 3 quarters of the full volume unless I'm somewhere very noisy. On a rattly bus I can hear perfectly and is loud enough to satisfy music that really has to be played loud however the granny sitting next to me has peace and quiet.
CONCLUSION
Overall, I'd recommend these earphones, they look good, sound good, are comfortable and not a bad price. Ticks all boxes then.
Summary: Good budget earphones, recommended
