When I first bought my Skullcandy SK Pro DJ Headphones it wasn't for studio work, or DJing, it wasn't even to listen to music. YES I know that is what they are for and yes that is what I used them for, but the reason I chose to buy these earphones specifically over any others was because they look good. When I then used them, boy was I blown away, the sound quality on these headphones is AMAZING!!! I'm no professional when it comes to how music should sound, but it was quite obvious from the get go that the sound quality on these headphones is brilliant and surpassed any other headphones I have ever used in the past. There are lots of pros and very little cons with buying these headphones for example they are soft and so really comfortable, also the ear cups on the headphones swivel (I assume this is for DJ's to use) which is great for use in the office, you can have one of the ear cups turned the other way so you can listen out for the phone ringing, door knocking or colleagues talking? I would recommend these to anyone who wants to listen to music that sounds great while looking great.
Let's start with the basics of this item comfort. The headphones themselves are very comfortable whilst the padded overhead band ensures that the head phones are comfortable on the head as well. The actual speakers are large enough to accommodate even the biggest ears so there should be no discomfort caused there. there are negatives however the large size of the headphones will be cumbersome for some users and a word of warning if used frequently the faux leather covers for the padding of the headphones will crack and peel, however the level of frequency required for this is beyond most average users. now for the big point sound quality. anyone who has tried a pair of skull candy headphones before will be familiar with the usual brand of exquisite warms of its low end frequency whilst equally impressed by the sharpness of the high end frequencies. on a completely flat equalisation however the middle frequencies can feel lack lustre at times but this can be amended as most personal music players have an in built EQ system, so for personal or private use the quality of these headphones sound at this price range is hard to match. it is a different story for professional sound engineering or DJing work, because of the lack of middle and the fact that the majority of headphone monitoring slots cannot be equalised you will tend to struggle on getting the right mix in a complete level, so in summary get a different set of headphones for professional work. Next we have durability, and have to say its full marks here, one would be tempted to mark it down for the aforementioned peeling of covers but technically and mechanically it hasn't gone wrong. having used these headphones everyday for the last 18 months for at least 4/5 a day and not a single thing has gone wrong with it its coiled wire ensures that no mishaps of overstretching the wire occurs whilst the internal soldering and wiring is done to the highest of standards, plus with skull candy's excellent bullet-proof free lifetime guarantee even if something did accidentally go wrong another will be on its way free of charge.
therefore in short, these headphones are an excellent everyday headphone for the discerning music lover which are well priced, durable, and with excellent sound quality. however if it's professional work you'll be wanting to part with a bit more cash and opt for something with a little more finesse.
