Advantages: good sound quality, bass doesn't overpower you, lots of choice of colours
Disadvantages: can't handle quieter music, lots of sound leakage,not comfortable to wear
So the other day I was curiously looking round HMV and had a brainwave that I needed some earphones (due to another pair of my sennheiser cx300 breaking) and went looking through the shelfs and found these...
Before today I had never bought a pair of Skullcandy due to friends saying their build quality was poor and the bass was good but ruined anything which wasn't 'Drum N'Bass', however I came across these and disregarded what my friends said due to being desperate for earphones.....
So, for £20 I expected something rather good.....
------------------Positives-------------------
-Firstly, They do produce just above average sound quality and there is no tinnyness (if that it is a word) compared to buds such as the ones boxed with apple ipods (which would be better off not being shipped with the ipod at all).
-Secondly, the earphones can handle low basses quite well but nothing that blows your ears off or causes vibrations which for some would be a relief.
-Thirdly, The choice of colours is a big draw such as blue(which I bought), pink, black, etc. They do include other colours but personally its better when you can see them in person as they definitely look better than the pictures.
-------------------Negatives---------------
-There is just nothing special about them, maybe that's because I am used to the cx300's which have a much stronger bass and can handle acoustic and folk music much better
-There is quite a lot of sound leakage above half volume even though below that there is almost nil which I find is weird
-The in ear buds don't really feel very comfortable even though I am used to in ear buds, maybe that is just me not picking the right size for my ear but still it doesn't exactly help the listening experience
=========Conclusion=========
They just are spoilt by not having any star qualities and don't really excel in any category. Don't get me wrong, these aren't dreadful and they do not warrant a refund or being unused but simply there are better products on the market in the in-ear market.
Summary: The choice of colour could have made these a hit but let down by not being best in category.
