      Bargain!

      Bomb da bass
      --------------------

My creative lab earphones were great. They lasted for four years and were the one that came with my Zen Stone mp3 player. Finally, they bowed to the inevitable and resorted to mono. Being tempted to treat them to a Viking burial in a matchbox, they went into the bin instead.

I replaced them with a par of inner ear headphones at a "bargain" price at Sainsburys. They were shockingly bad. Music became tinny, and even the smallest buds on the inner earpieces felt very, very uncomfortable. Enough, said I!

      Aubergines
      -----------------------------------

My criteria for a new pair were: Bass, comfort, durability and price. In that order. I opted for the Sony MDR-ED12LP ones in a fetching Red. Sony reckons they are fashionable as well. They are certainly unmistakable. Passers by will be in no doubt whether you have earphones in.

The earpieces "screw in", that is, you have to align the part of them that sticks in your ear. No longer do you have to empathise with Lieutenant George, circa WW1 :

"Feels like the time I was initiated into the Silly Buggers Society at Cambridge. I misheard the rules and tried to push a whole aubergine up my earhole."

It's actually comfortable. Mostly because only a portion of the earpiece goes in. The rest forms a relatively good seal outside. Apparently this is due to it having a diaphragm, which caused me to take a second look.

The bass boost function is excellent. It manages to draw out lower frequencies without giving them a dull Kevved-up-boy-racer-at-lights sound. It's not too muddy and its not indistinct. Can you listen to them at anywhere near blast on a train? Probably not, but you shouldn't expect to at this price.

The main unit feels well put together, and the leads, while not the sturdiest around certainly feel as though they have the capacity to be around for awhile. There's even a little plastic toggle which you can use to "zip up" the section where the leads separate when not in use.

In summary, these headphones are a great accompaniment to gym work, whether doing cardio or weights. If you're into outdoor running, I'm sure these would mitigate any loneliness on long distances.

Furthermore, they are currently £7. As they are being discontinued, buying a pair even as a backup could prove to be a smart investment.

        Well worth a purchase!!

Class set of headphones these - at a very good price.

With the ipod sony headphones being around £20, I thought it would be best to purchase a cheaper pair with similar sound quaility. These didnt let me down. Fit into your ears perfectly - even my big ears!

If you dont want to spend a hell of a lot on a special pair of eaphones, these ones are the earphones for you at £5.95. Sound quality is great whether listening to dance, rock, pop or rnb. Great bass on them and the sound quality is extremely similar to the i-pod eaphones at 1/4 of the price.

Well worth purchasing, especially from Sony. Very reliable company and they also provide you with a leaflet on how to use them and also other aspects of the product. Very good product and an extremely good price, purchase now! £5.95, bargain of the year!
