Sony MDR XD200: ... particular brand from Sony isn t bad, but by no means is it anything spectacular either. You get what you pay for in this case, not much. From a musician s standpoint, this is a horrible set. Like most entertainment purpose oriented sets this one will hype the high and low sounds which of course reflects poorly on what you should be hearing. From an entertainment standpoint though they are closed headphones t...

... have only recently brought these earphones from a reputable online auction site. i expected mediocre performance from them as they were cheap, however i got the shock of my life when i first plugged them in. WOW WOW WOW. i had a pair of sennheiser in ear headphone before that were ok. nothing special, which they should have been. these however blew me away, the frequency range is outstanding, aided by the design of the woofer unit. i tried them on cd/mp3 and online streaming and it was very easy to distiguish between the quality of audio. the bass unit has really got some power behind it, which manifests itself without being overpowering. the various different sized ea...

I-tried-this Sony MDR E931LPS
... like these! they are affordable and aailable in many places. Its the shape that makes them superior in my mind, they are tapered at the part that sits into in your ear, and the speakers are also tapered towards this same end. This as a result makes it harder for music to leak out, AND gives a better sound. Bass included. The cable is around 1 meter long, good for clipping your MP3/ipod to your waist/keeping in your shoulder bag, but not so good for any longer then that, so no arm bags, no rowing machines at the gym and if you are on the tredmill, you really cant go that far away from the top of the machine. The main issue I have with these earphones is that they onl...

I-tried-this Sony Fontopia MDR-ED21LP
... of someone who wont use anything else but these, but even he admitted they do take some getting used to. The do not block out sound, they do a good job of stopping it escaping from your ear (though not as effective as silicon covered earbuds), but they will not stop sound from outside in the way that noise cancelling earphones do. I guess buy these if you have tried them before and liked them, dont spend alot on them- they will break/sound gets distorted or too muffled about every 2 to 3 months so replace them regularly, they will need it! Sony do have good quality stock, but these are a little to wierd for me! Try the silicon covered ones for a better sound quality....
