I was far from home and had lost another set of earphones on the train so had to look around for a place to buy a replacement pair as I was going on a connecting long train journey. I found a Tesco Extra and purchased a pair of Technika in ear earphones from their entertainment department, they cost £4 and lasted for exactly two weeks which was what I needed them for so that was just fine.
The sound quality wasn't brilliant and got worse over those two weeks, the sound was always tinny but not too irritatingly so and I could usually drown out the distortion by turning the volume up.
The basic foam earbuds were comfortable even for long periods of time, they didn't mould to my ears or anything special like that but were luckily automatically a good fit. The cord always felt fragile but didn't split while the earphones were in use, it probably would have done if the sound had lasted longer but after two weeks the sound in the right earbud flickered for an hour then died completely. I wasn't upset as by then I was nearly home and could pick up another set of earphones from my vast selection.
These Technika earphones got me out of a jam as I didn't want to spend more knowing how many set of earphones I have at home already, for the low price I'm happy I bought these as the quality might not have been perfect but they were a good emergency choice that lasted for exactly as long as I thought they would.
My review is in relation to the Technika probud earphones which according to the packet are made exclusive for Tesco. Although they come in different colours mine are black and not too different to the ones above.
I first started buying these earphones last year and have gone through a few pair since but at less than £10 a go I think they are very good value. In any case each time they break I take them back and they are exchanged for another pair.
They come in a sealed plastic case andare suitable for Ipads/Iphones and have a 3.5mm Straight-line connector. Stylish soft touch finish and a 1.2m tangle free cable makes it ideal for me to carry around throughout the day.
I have found that the silicone buds fit in my ears extremely well and keep background sound to a bare minimum. In fact often I have family members have to actually tap me on the back because I can't hear them shout my name.
In this set there are neodymium drivers for deep bass and crystal clear sound which I think are superb. The music does seem excellent and provides a great experience in enjoying my favourite sounds.
Would I recommend them? These are cheap and cheerful and made in China but so are many excellent products these days. Do expect them to break. Two of mine have had problems with just one ear piece working but if you keep your receipt then you'll always get them exchanged.
It's a yes from me.

The earphones come in a slim plastic cylinder and you have a choice of colours. I've got a silver pair but liked the pale blue ones, they would have clashed with my pink iPod though. The earphones have round ends so they are comfortable in your ears but they are long so don't feel like they are in properly sometimes.
I bought these because of the cheap price so I wasn't expecting very much from them. Technika is Tesco's own range of electronic products and these earphones cost less than £5. They stop unwanted background noise interfering with the music I am listening to. They are a good fit in my ears so my music doesn't leak out to disturb other people. The music is very clear and not tinny when I wear these earphones but if I am listening to music with a heavy bass I can hear a bit of buzzing sometimes.
I have been using these earphones for 10 weeks now and do not use them every day. The last time I used them I saw that the plastic cable was starting to come away from the earphone and I could see the wires. That earphone has also gone a bit loose now and doesn't feel as comfortable in my ear.
WHAT I THINK
I think these earphones are good for the low price but they haven't lasted very long and I will have to replace them tomorrow. The sound quality is very good unless you're listening to music with a strong bass and even then it isn't that buzzy that you have to turn it off. There's no volume control on the earphones but I didn't expect that for the low price.
The long earphones made my ears ache to start with but I got used to that quickly and then I didn't notice the extra length. The parts that go in my ears are soft and comfortable and do not fall out when I am walking or running.
4 Dooyoo Stars.
I bought these headphones as a spare pair. I buy so many pairs of headphones as I always lose them or stand on them. I have quite a collection now!
These headphones were priced at under £5 (£4.49 on eBay including postage) so they are cheap. I wasn't expecting much for such a cheap price, and I was right in that aspect. The sound quality isn't brilliant. You can tell that the headphones are cheap in terms of price (and quality). I love listening to dance music but these headphones don't do dance music any justice at all. They sound really tinny and they have little bass sound. They're nothing like my Skull Candy earphones, however they're okay as a spare pair. I wouldn't be too bothered if I stood on these...
The headphones aren't that durable either. After a week's usage the inner part of the earphone kept falling out so I had to superglue it back in the end. I wasn't too bothered about sending them back but I would have sent them back if i'd have paid any more for them. The cord also tangles easily and the earphones kept falling out of my ears. I walk at an average pace and wearing these whilst I am walking is virtually impossible. They just don't stay put so i'm constantly having to put them back into my ear, which is a little frustrating.
Would I recommend these? As a spare pair - Yes. As a main pair - No!
I have already written a review on technika premium headphones which I bought after using these ones ( you will find out more if you read on!!! ). I bought these last year for £3 I believe, my girlfriend works for tesco so I got a 10% discount ( hehe ). I wanted a pair of headphones that I could wear out and about that I wouldn't worry about breaking or losing them. I constantly get the bus and train in Brighton, music passes the time!
---- what do they look like?? ---
They are a very simple plain black design, with a black lead. They have a stylish silver part just before the headphone. To be honest they look rather good for the price, they do not look like your typical cheap headphone, this is mainly why I chose them. They come in a cylinder plastic tube with the headphones visable. The packaging is tacky, yet the headphones looked great. They are a good length, and will extend from your pocket to your ear without any problems.
--- cost ----
For under £3 you can't complain too much, they are only a fraction of the price of others on the market. If you want a pair of headphones for day to day use, then these are for you :) they could easily charge more for them than they are currently!
---- sound quality ----
They sound very tinny, which is a let down! I wish they sounded better, I know you shouldn't expect them to be amazing. They sound fine at a low level, but any sort of volume and you will lose quality. They are average at best! What more should you expect. I find they are better for watching videos/movies on the iPhone. They are good for the price, so don't let my high expectations put you off at all.
---- what do they feel like? ----
They feel nice in the ear, they are comfortable to wear and do not cause your ear to ache after wearing them after a while. My more expensive headphones start to become painful to wear after a while, these don't which isn't reall positive. They are very light so you don't feel like your wearing anything in your ear :)
--- why I don't use them anymore ---
As I said earlier, I own a different pair now! The premium version of these headphones are a lot better! They are a few quid more expensive but the quality is amazing. Have a look online for them. There isn't too much difference, but the sound quality is far better.
--- who would I recommend them too ---
Anyone who wants a cheap pair of headphones for day to day use. They would be great for kids as there first headphones! They will enjoy using them and they won't be too bothered about the quality. If your a music genius, I don't think these are for you. For the price they are suitable for anyone.
--- so overall? ---
These headphones are great value, I would recommend you look at the technika premium headphones first because they are much better. But these do the job!
Thanks for reading :)
Technika In Ear Headphones Pink
I bought these earphones a few months ago from Tesco. They cost me about £5 when I first bought them. However last night I went back to Tesco and bought another pair. This time they were reduced and cost me only £2.49 which I think is a really good, reasonable price to pay for a pair of good earphones.
The reason I needed a new pair wasn't because the first pair had broken or anything like that, it was just because I left the first pair at my friend's house, she lives about six hours away and I won't be seeing her for a while so it makes things easier just to buy another pair. I use earphones all the time and can't go without them for longer than a couple of weeks.
These earphones are exclusive to Tesco. They are available in four different colours in the store I got them from. These colours are: black, silver, blue and hot pink. I wanted purple as that is my favourite colour but I settled for pink as that was the closest to purple lol. It would be good if there was a bigger variety of colours that you can buy these earphones in.
The cable for these earphones is 1.2m long which is plenty long enough. It is long enough so that when I stand up with the earphones in and they are connected to my phone, my phone is almost touching the floor.
Also the two separate earphones are a good distance away from each other, which means you and a friend can both listen to the music at the same time. Basically if you and a friend were both sitting in the back of a car, at either side, and you both wanted to listen to the music through these earphones, you could, as they would reach easily and probably wouldn't pull that much each time one of you moved. Sometimes earphones are really close to each other which is just so annoying if you want to listen with a friend.
There are three different pairs of ear buds that come with these earphones in three different sizes. When you buy these don't throw the box away without tipping it upside down to get the ear buds out. Then just put them in a safe place in case you lose any, thats what I do anyway.
The ear buds are very soft which means it is very comfortable to listen to music out of these ear phones.
Overall these earphones are fantastic and come at a great price. I would definitely recommend them. I have the HTC Wildfire phone and they fit into it perfectly, they also fit my sisters mp3 player my computer and my laptop.
They are a great pair of ear phones.
As a drummer when practising I need a pair of headphones with good bass and the ability to block out most noise, as well as being comfortable, I had previously looked at a recognised brands version of these style of headphones, costing £20 they were double the price! The audio quality wasn't any different, nor were any other aspects, including the build quality of the headphones themselves. After seeing myself through two pairs of expensive headphones I sought after another cheaper pair of headphones to do the same job!
Technika's In-Ear Headphones do just as well! One pair lasted me for 6 months, which I saw as pretty good, it wasnt the headphones that broke it was the connector where they were plugged in to my MP3 device! A temporary fix before going to buy more of these was using tape to make the connector stay in the correct position. Coming with 3 sizes of bud's the mediums seem good for me, I've bought 3 spares now in-case, but the current pair are just as good as new!
I will definitely not be paying out silly money for headphones that can do the same job, it's really not worth it, these headphones look okay, and have just as good quality in all aspects, and don't cost a lot to replace if they're broken/lost.
I got these from Tesco as an experiment..In the past I have found mixed results in supermarket brand items, so some in-ear headphones for under a fiver couldn't be turned down. I have had them for about 2 months and have used them wherever possible just to test them. I have a large amount of headphones ranging from these to £300 studio quality ones so I like to think I have a varied and full view on them
They have a 1.2 m cable that is ideal for mp3 player use because of the lack of excess cable. They come with 3 sizes of ear bud so they will fit most ears, they are as comfortable as the more expensive in-ear pairs I own. A far as sound goes my expectations were not very high but I was pleasantly surprised...they have an alright frequency range with better clarity than I would have expected for £5, bass is seriously lacking however. They also block out very little of the outside world and do pump a lot of sound in the wrong direction, often yielding unappreciative looks on the train. They don't break any sort of ground by any stretch of the imagination but for the price I think it would be rash to expect that.
RELIABILITY & BUILD
They are built fairly well although they are obviously made from cheap materials and I can't imagine them lasting anything over a year...and thats with careful use, a skill I don't possess. The bud sometimes become un-attached which can get annoying to say the least but for the most part they are ok. They are available in black, silver, pink and blue so for those that want to make 'a statement' they can...I stick to black.
Didn't expect a great deal but they do deliver to a higher level than they cost. For £5 I think they are a good buy, don;'t expect to truly hear the complexities of music but short of buying a pair of £80 Bose In-ear's you don;t get this anyway.
As I'm sure many of you have found with some of the cheaper brands of headphones, it can be very hard to find any that actually block out the sound of everything around you. I looked for a long time to try and find something that cost me less than £10 that actually did what I needed them to do on the trips to and from various places on public transport and I think I finally found something that does what I want it to do within my price range!
The packaging for this product - which is only available in Tesco, by the way - comes in a cylinder shaped transparent plastic tube which has another plastic tray inside it containing the headphones so that you can see what they look like and how big they are. Inside there is also a piece of cardboard which is green and black with white writing on it, along with the Technika logo.
On the packaging it states;
"In Ear Headphones Black
Comfort Fit And High Quality Sound With Rich Base
- In ear
- 3 Sizes of Earbud
- Gold Plated Connector
- 1.2m Cable"
In my opinion, these headphones certainly fit all of these things they state they do. I think that they are very comfortable to wear and, considering that my ears are small and can't usually take having the larger ordinary headphones in them. I also like the way that they seem to block out all other sound without the volume having to be so loud it hurts your ears. My MP3 player's volume setting goes up to 32 and I rarely need it above about 10 because other sound is generally entirely blocked by simply wearing the headphones. This is good in my opinion as no other headphones I've found have done this, especially not ones that cost just £5.07 as these ones do!
While the cable on these is quite long, when you wrap it around something like your MP3 player, it barely takes up any extra space than what the Mp3 player takes up anyway which I think is a good thing as it means that you don't have excess wires everywhere in your bag or pocket. They do tend to become tangled quite easily though which isn't so good. There's nothing I hate more than having to sit there for 10 minutes unravelling the wire on your headphones!
Other colours that these headphones come in other than the black ones which I have include silver, pink and blue. I think these colours pretty much cover everything people are likely to want which is quite good because it means there is enough variety without it being over the top.
On average I would say that these headphones last me for about a year, if not more, and even then the only reason I have to replace them is usually because I caught one of the earphones on something and pulled it off or something stupid like that. The wire isn't extremely strong but if you're careful with them, they're fine.
Overall, I think these headphones are really good, especially given their price. I also think that anyone looking for headphones that block out sound should definitely give these a go because they're well worth it!
