Advantages: Sound Quality
Disadvantages: Too many wires
Introduction
Right, I bought these headphones last week primarily to be used on Call of Duty 4.
They cost £43.50 including delivery from Amazon and was amazed at how quickly they turned up.
In the past I have had 2 sets of original Microsoft earphones and have also purchased the Wireless Microsoft headset which I thought was great until these bad boys turned up.
On first impressions I was slightly miffed at how many wires there were but on the same level un-phased as I knew these headphones were going to be awesome , I frantically set about installing the headphones so I could experience what is was like to feel like you were part of the game.
Upon installing these headphones I noticed feedback through the ear pieces once you had turned your MIC on. This is overcome by plugging the headphone USB into the back of the Xbox360 whilst putting the wireless in to the front.
Anyway onto the best bits:
Comfort
It's a dream for those late night sessions and believe it or not they actually keep you warm. The amount of times I've being playing the Xbox for 3-4 hours and started to go cold - I'm not kidding these babies keep the heat in.
They are extremely comfortable although they do make you look like a pilot from a Boeing 747
Sound
IMMENSE..................................you can hear so many things that you don't normally get through your TV. The sound quality is excellent - you can actually pin point the slightest bit of movement. For instance, if someone is walking/running 10-20m to your right you can hear the movement they are making in the right ear piece which allows you to isolate exactly where people are, if you turn your head the opposite way then the movement plays through the left ear - its amazing.
If you have ever played COD 4 believe you me the Airstrikes and Helicopters feel like they are raining down on your very own house because they have so much bass. Trust me once that volume is whacked right up (see how long you can stand it) don't expect to hear anything but the game you are playing.
One problem I did encounter was trying to get the right setting to hear both the chat and the game play at acceptable levels; this is achieved by adjusting the settings on your Xbox 360 by increasing the Chat volume and decreasing the game play volume on the amplifier that comes with the headphones.
I must stress that these earphones are a must for any serious Xbox360 gamer - well worth every penny spent.
Summary: As crisp as a Microwaved Duck

- 24/08/09 I have these headphones too and they are excellent. The wires are a pain, but the newer version will be wireless and true surround sound! |
