Advantages: Good price
Disadvantages: The headphones are average at best
The logitech Stereo headset is a really handy piece of kit that we use for skype mainly. It is available for £14.49 on Amazon. We got a pair in the Christmas sale at PC World for £9.99. What initially attracted me to the item, was the fact it was under a tenner, had some very good reviews on Amazon (We always check and make a list of the best potential options before going out shopping) and it also had a noise cancelling microphone which meant that we could use the headset even in wi-fi areas outside and contact friends and family on holidays without simply being overwhelmed by noise.
The headset is multi purpose and when not being used for Skype it can be used with our Xbox to play games and wind up friends, it can also be used on the computer to listen to music and films. The sound quality is excellent and you can really hear everything that is being said, clearly without difficulty. The sound quality is much better for making calls than it is for films and music, for some reason the variants in music can become muffled or difficult to hear, possibly because I know what I'm listening to, whereas the phone calls sound clear and easy to understand.
The headphones are a plastic silver colour on the exterior with those little black furry ear pieces which I thought had disappeared years ago, these feel and look somewhat cheap and don't really add to the high tech experience in any sense.
The headset itself is also not too large, so it doesn't cause many problems for storage, but it is big enough to ensure that you aren't simply going to use the headset four or five times and then replace it, as it's weak quality. Moving the headset slightly to fit two different sized heads is easy to do, but the foam ear pieces can get a bit damp if somebody has been chatting to family for 20 minutes and then passes the headphones to the other person.
The cabling with the headset is 1.8 metres long meaning you can chat on the computer and still sit on a sofa or be at least 6 feet away, to allow you to relax if needs be.
Overall this product is ok, I don't think it can be considered anything more than a 3 out of 5, this is based on the price and the fact we get clear, crisp Skype calls, its not much use with music or film, and the ear pieces are annoying and old fashioned, without being entirely practical.
