I bought these Sennheiser MM 50 iPhone earphones last month after having my very first IPhone. I am quite a recent convert to iPhones and haven't really listened to music much on my phones previously but my husband has put so many of my favourite songs on my phone from his iPod that I thought I would treat myself to some decent earphones which I knew would last me and give a good sound.
I bought these from Tesco and they were on offer for £30 which is a very good price as the recommended retail price at Tesco is usually £49.99. Also, I had used the Tesco Clubcard exchange so I exchanged £15 of vouchers so effectively got them for nothing which is always good. I had looked at different reviews of earphones and had decided before I went to the store that these were the ones that I wanted. One of the main reasons is that they have a microphone so I don't have to take the earphones out of my ears to answer the phone.
They are very neat looking but they are well made and strong. They come with three different sizes of ear buds being small, medium and large so they should fit most size ears. I found that the smallest size were the best for my delicate little ears. They are black with a silver section where the bud fits into and they are discreet enough to wear without being too obtrusive. They have a small Sennheiser logo on the back of the earpiece.
You simply press a small indented button on the microphone to answer the phone and you press it again to end the call and it takes you back to the place you were in the music. I find this particularly useful if I am on the train listening to my music and someone calls me as I only have to press a small button rather than pick up my phone. The same button also plays and pauses tunes, and a double press will skip tracks. The microphone is black and is only about an inch long so does not look bulky or very noticeable. As with a lot of earphones with a microphone one side is much longer than the other, but this is designed to put them round the back of your neck so that if you do take the earphones out they stay round your neck so you don't lose or drop them.
Obviously the main point about earphones is the quality of the sound, and I can say that the quality of these is excellent, with just the right balance for perfect listening. The bass is particularly good which features heavily in a lot of my music and which I always turn up anyway. Sennheiser are a very well known and good quality make so I wouldn't really expect anything else from them and this is one of the reasons I chose this make. They do block out most outside noise and it is very clear when you are speaking through the microphone.
They didn't come with a case but I managed to find a Sennheiser case on Ebay for £4 with free delivery which is perfect. So all in all I think these are a well made set of headphones and are great for taking calls whilst listening to your music without having to pull them out of your ears. They are lightweight and stylish and I would say that they are suitable for any age or gender.
Sennheiser has such a good reputation when it comes to audio products. And for the iphone they did not take long to release a good quality accessory that had the functions to handle your mobile and also including the exellent experience they have developing earphones.
The MM 50 have a really elegant design, they are sleek, thin, yet strong and have a really cool logo on the back of the ear piece. The black colour makes them very cool and stylish rather than flashy like many on the market which are cool while the fashion is in. They include a very useful microphone which to me is one of the best features, because it allows you to control your iphone and have conversations using the earphones as handsfree. So when you are busy driving, or jogging, you can take calls and still be able to continue with your activities. The microphone bit also has a button to enable the voice control features that the iphone has. Something I love because you can just enable it and say whatever you need and the iphone will do it for you. If you are playing songs, you can go to the next one by pressing twice that button. And if you want to go to the previous track, instead, you just have to press it three times. It also works to play and pause your music quickly.
They are quite strong since I have had them for more than two years now and they are still working perfectly, and I do not treat earphones particularly well. So I guess they are made to last and please the buyer.
The sound quality is extraordinary, something hard to get with earphones made for mobiles with microphones. However they have an affordable and fair price of around 30 pounds, and the characteristics you get are from way more expensive ones. I definitely recommend them.
