For year, I have been using in-ear earphones. They work well for me, and I like them for a total noise cancellation and discreetness. However, I soon realised the problem when I almost missed my stop at Colindale tube station, on my last visit to London. I became unaware with my surrounding. What if a car coming after me and I do not hear it? I could get in a nasty accident *gasp*
So I went on a headphone hunting and found this Sony MDR ZX100W, the white version for MDR ZX100. I have used Sony's in-ear earphones in the past, and I was satisfied with the quality, so I trust this brand. I bought it for just over £10, with free delivery, way much cheaper than the same brand and make I found in the store. I am so happy with the purchase.
It is white, with small discreet red stripe to mark the right side. It looks very lovely too, not only because of its colour, but also the style. It does not look too blokey or sporty for my liking, but still keep it simple and elegant. I love the fact that I could twist the ear part so it could make an easier storage for when I travel.
The sound it produces is good quality, as expected. And for the noise cancellation, it still does isolate the noise out a little. You can still listen to your favourite song nicely, but you would be able to hear the incoming car, or an important announcement on the tube. If you put it on a normal volume.
I definitely love this product, and would recommend this any time.
Having an Amazon £10 voucher spare; I wanted to purchase a cheap pair that has good quality, so being Sony; a well-known reputable brand I purchased these Sony MDRZX100W over-head headphones. The Rounded structure makes the headphones strong and rigid; the ear cup ear pads are soft and extremely comfortable; but what I found to be a flaw is that these ear pads insulated heat from the ears that made wearing the headphone really uncomfortable when spending a decent amount of time using them.
The red stripe on the headphone makes it easy to identify the right side headphone to the adjustable headband; you can turn the left and the right headphone 90 degrees which I find to be useful as it does not get damaged easily. The headphone also has a adjustable headphone clip; depending on how big you want it to be you can adjust it by physically moving the ear pad down and up.
When out and on the go, the ear cup shaped ear pads on these headphones; does a great job on cancelling out background noise making the audio well insolated. The audio on these headphones are pretty weak; there is not that much base even if you pop on a song that does; but audio is crystal clear. The chord length is short preventing it from tangling easily. The headphone has an L shaped plug which makes the device easy to adjust to what position it is in.
I think these headphones are worth getting because off the price. if listening to music on the buses, trains or out I would use these.
I would recommend these headphones to anyone looking for a cheap pair, for the price I would purchase these headphones as a spare but not if you want a headphone that has good audio.
The sound quality for the average user is excellent. The bass is good, the treble is the only thing which slightly affects the sound quality, but this would only be noticed by an audiophile....so yeah, don't worry about it!
The build quality is fine. The headphones are plastic and the cups can be rotated which is convenient for storage. I don't really see the problem with them being plastic, beats by dre are plastic and they cost more than ten times the price. They do feel a little bit fragile but i leave them in my bag which contains heavy books and they have been fine so far. The advantage of being plastic is that they are extremely light. Being headphones and not earphones you do ideally need a bag to store them in but i always have a bag with me so this is never an issue.
The cord is 1.2m in length which is perfect because you don't need to tuck away loads of cable in your pocket.
The cable is thick so you don't have to worry about it getting damaged soon after you buy it.
The main problem is that there is no padding in contact with your head so it can be a little uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time.
After breaking my flimsy old pair of on ear headphones, I bought a pair of white Sony MDR ZX100.
After a lot of research I came across these headphones on play.com. I was amazed of the cheap price (£15) and so I immediately bought them. They came in black and white but I choose white to match my Sony Ericsson Spiro.
I was sceptical about the sound quality as the headphones were so cheap but I was amazed as soon as I used them for the first time. They have a clear sound with not to much bass and not to much treble. Obviously the sound is not as good as the sound from a higher end pair of headphones but they definatly would match a £30 pair.
With previous pairs of headphones I have had problems with cords, again these failed to disappoint. Not only is the cord nice and thick it is also a very good length. It is not to long but not to short so it does not get in my way when walking around town but it will still gives space to move around when they are connected to my laptop.
I think that headphones should not only sound good they should look and feel good, the matte colour looks fantastic! Previously I have found over ear headphones uncomfortable but I can wear these headphones all day in complete comfort. I find headphone ear cups are sometimes to big or to small but again, these ones are perfect, they fit snuggly around my average sized ears.
Not only do the headphones look good but they also great for travelling, the ear cups rotate 180 degrees to make the headphones completely flat, saving space and also keeping the headphones safer.
