Recently the earphones I had been using for the last couple of years gave up the ghost; in the end, the slight crackling became all I could hear and I decided enough was enough. Well, can't be that difficult to grab another pair I thought...
To say I was bewildered by the choices out there is an understatement! All I wanted was a decent, non-too-expensive pair of headphones that could play good sound quality music; quite a few earphones I looked at I couldn't even understand what they offered, with lists of numbers and what they meant. I know I'm in my 40's but jeez......
Then , like a ray of light on my PC screen, I found these, the 'Logitech Ultimate Ears 100 Noise Isolating Earphones', to give them their full title. They looked nice and seemed to do what I wanted (er, play music) so I plonked down my tenner and took a chance.
When the earphones arrived, they were packaged up in that standard tough plastic shell that by the time you have opened it, you are in need of a plaster on at least one finger! The nice thing about this Logitech range is that you can personalise them, as they come in several different colours - red, blue, green, grey, purple and a couple of zanier designs. I went for blue, my favourite colour. It was nice darkish shade of blue, with a little logitech logo on the top of the earphone and a little sketch design on the earphone itself. Very nice looking indeed.
The ear buds themselves were a lighter blue, and a nice touch was that the earphones come with 4 sets of ear buds, all at different sizes so whatever size of ears you have, be they dainty Kylie Minogue or of the Prince Charles/ Gary Lineker variety, you can find the buds that make a perfect fit. All joking aside, that is actually very important for good sound quality, to block out any outside sound that might annoy you in the background. My middle of the road ears were mightily impressed by the nice, snug fit of the ear buds, much better than my previous set
So they look nice and feel nice but the big test, what do they sound like...
Actually, very good. I would hesitate to say excellent, but at this price you shouldn't expect that anyway. I used them to listen to music (doing that right now.....), on my pc, and plugged into my phone and the quality was nice and clear. Nice bass quality through to the higher end sound. No complaints at all. Well, one tiny one. There is no volume adjuster on the earphones themselves, which I miss, so sound adjusting can only be done on your appliance of choice. A minor quibble though. The 'noise isolation' really works as well...I had them on when my children were playing and screaming, and could hardly hear them at all (I actually plan to never take them off again).
Did I mention that they are comfortable? they are...very. Which is handy, as they are now staying on forever. Hear that kids......
