	British United Provident Association (BUPA) ... have been a member of BUPA for many years and, unfortunately, have had to use them a few times. Now I know that many of you could wax lyrical about ethics. You know the stuff - The NHS should be good enough to provide for all and it is unfair that the rich get preferential treatment etc... All good stuff until your company gives it to you for free. Then 90% + of people's ethics are quickly forgotten. Mine certainly were. Enough of the confessions, I must press on. Price wise BUPA are certainly not the cheapest. Whilst I don't pay for mine someone in their mid 30's should expect to pay £50-£60 per month for a decent level of cover. There are several... 	SimplyHealth ... updated 8/1/04 About Simplyhealth was previously Manor House Friendly Society which was one of the oldest mutual health insurers in the UK, in fact they claim to have been a small version of the NHS until all that changed after the war. Since I wrote the initial review they have been taken over by HSA which from what I have seen has meant the forms have got smaller (a good thing) and certain procedures are dealt with more quickly, namely complementary therapy and cancer operations. 	Pearl Assurance ... Assurance are part the AMP group. I have had many dealings with them over the past few years. Their home insurance is excellent and extremely competetive, their car insurance can be be quite reasonable if you fit certain criteria (over 30, full no claims etc!). Their life insurance is also now very competitive. Unfortunately they have had to let their highly professional advisors go. Although this is a sad move, I hear that they will have a smaller sales force that will be working on a self employed basis, so all is not lost.
