Who would win a fight between an Eagle and a St Bernard?
Trick question, neither, as they would merge and become one of the largest insurance companies in the world, and that is exactly what happened between Eagle Star and Zurich Insurance about 3 years ago!

Reasons for and against have been flying around for a while now, but at the end of the day it had happened.
Having had first hand experience (or maybe second hand, the wife works for them) of the change process and the merge of the offices in Newcastle, Swindon, Fareham and Bournemouth, I can gladly say that they have settled down now, and all teething problems are behind them.

Motor Insurance.

If you have ever had a quote for motor insurance from Eagle Star or from Zurich and found it expensive, then it maybe worth given them another chance.

Since the merge, many new ideas and methods have been used, and criteria for cheaper insurance changes on a regular basis.
It could be that you get public sector discount, or discounts for other membership perks.
So check out there web site or phone direct when your insurance is up for renewal.
Another good thing you can do is phone up for a quote for when your insurance runs out and they will hold the quote price for then.
As most of you know, the price of insurance fluctuates almost daily, therefore it wont be a bad thing just to get a quote.

WHAT YOU NEED AT HAND WHEN PHONING FOR A QUOTE

Driving licence

Log Book for Car
This has the exact specification and model information of your car. This includes, engine size, those tricky little letters or numbers, such as zx or gti or 206 etc, date of reg and so on.

Home details including postcode etc

Date of Birth for every driver of vehicle

No claims details

Previous insurance company details

And anything else that may be important.

TIPS
Always tell them hoe much you have been quoted
elsewhere, and nock £10 off before you tell them.
The reason behind this is once they have given you a quote it can not be changed, however if they know before hand how much you have been quoted, their computer system will suggest discounts for certain category’s (or maybe their sales technician will)
Don’t whinge afterwards if it is £20 too much and they wont change it.

If you phone them you can get a quote for your home, building travel and life insurance as well.
It may be worth taking an extra product as you may well get more discount for being a multi-user,

SUMMARY

Not the cheapest insurance company in the world, but you do not here many horror stories about them, and for a few extra quid, I would prefer to have piece of mind.

As an Eagle Star employee there's nothing better than a complement. Nice Op and very true!
