What is HSA? HSA is a different concept to health care and is a non-profit making organisation. HSA stands for the Hospital Saving Association. With the raising costs of health care HSA may provide the answer. For one weekly payment the whole family (spouses and children up to the age of eighteen), can obtain financial help for any number of medical treatments, through the HSA SuperPlan. HSA will pay a tax-free sum of money covering both the member and their family if they require allergy testing, an in-patient stay in hospital or just a simple visit to the dentist, or optician, plus eighteen other types of health care matters. HSA is not private health care, nor does it only support NHS treatment, in health care matters it does not discriminate!

**History**

HSA was established seventy-eight years ago, prior to the inception of the National Health Service, to help its members pay their medical bills. Now a days ?HSA is Britain's Number 1 Family Health Care Cash Plan provider,? with cover costing from as little as £1.80 a week. There are a variety of payments scales depending on how much one can invest.

**Payment Scales**

Scale 1: £1.80
Scale 2: £3.60
Scale 3: £5.40
Scale 4: £7.20
Scale 5: £10.80
Scale 6: £14.40

So whatever the budget restrictions, there is a scale in HSA SuperPlan that almost everyone can afford. I pay £5.40 per week. This is taken form my bank account every four weeks at £21.60. HSA SuperPlan will pay up to 50% of the medical bill. I find it reasonable as Shane has Osteopathy on a monthly basis and I have Acupuncture also on a monthly basis. I have also claimed for outpatient treatment, in-patient stays dental and optical treatment too. It does not matter whether the treatment is carried out by the NHS or privately, as long as the practitioner or institute is recognised by HSA SuperPlan

For example:

Both Shane and I can receive up to £3
72.00 towards eye care each annually. This allows Shane to have a new pair of glasses yearly plus prescription sunglasses without to much expenses. (Pay the bill first and then send the receipts to HSA SuperPlan and a cheque for half the final bill will be returned). Claims are always settled quickly, usually within three/four working days are recipt of any health expenses.

Membership is open to anyone under the age of seventy years old. Another plus is that HSA SuperPlan payments do not increase with age. The member chooses how much they pay from the payment scale (above). No medical is required and pre-existing conditions do not prevent joining HSA, but full details are requested for consideration.

**Qualifying Period**

For all claims there is a standard six-month qualifying period.

Maternity payments are made after a ten-month qualifying period.

Cover is however extended immediately, for accident casualty admission.

There is now also a twelve month money back offer. Details are included when joining HSA.
