Norwich Union Health Insurance

Note: not your Physician has decided - but an insurance company has decided what's medically necessary - Wow!). I'm not wealthy, but self employed, and took out the cover as if unwell I don't have an income and there isn't 'sick-pay' for the self-employed. In the end though I feel Aviva have behaved just like any other insurance company - trying to avoid providing cover - rather than accepting responsibility for ALL the treatment consequential of the original can... more

Avoid AVIVA is my advice. I claimed for cancer treatment which to be fair was provided but be aware they do not cover for all complications of treatment that may occur. In my case there were two, as a direct result, and Aviva have decided they may cover one but not the other (one they class as medically important - the other not so - but they couldn't explain WHY - just saying the 'company had decided'. Note: not your Physician has decided - but an insurance company has decided what's medically necessary - Wow!). Unfortunately you do not know what the company are truly like until you make a claim. I found them to be very inefficient, such as not returning my calls, always saying that the person I wanted to speak to was "in a meeting", changing their minds with regards to information they required. You never dealt with the same person more than once so your file gets passed around. I found them to be very disingenous and will do anything to avoid paying out on a claim. Whenever I wrote to them they would never answer my specific ...  Read the complete review

Last year, i joined norwich union healthcare and sat down with the salesperson to fill in my form on my behalf. I told him all my past ailments which all should have been written down as all past illnesses that have required medical attention are not included in the insrance. I explained one of my minor illnesses and my more serious one which i do not want to reveal on the internet. The saleperson said that there was no need to write down the minor illness. A year later, i put in a claim after my minor illness had become worse. norwich union were very unhelpful and even lost my forms causing me to fill them in again. after they were still not satisfied they requesed .  Read the complete review
