Disadvantages: Recent troubles may scare of some customers

Pearl Assurance are part the AMP group. I have had many dealings with them over the past few years. Their home insurance is excellent and extremely competetive, their car insurance can be be quite reasonable if you fit certain criteria (over 30, full no claims etc!). Their life insurance is also now very competitive. Unfortunately they have had to let their highly professional advisors go. Although this is a sad move, I hear that they will have a smaller sales force that will be working on a self employed basis, so all is not lost. Things haven't been too good for Pearl recently as you have probably heard, however they do have the backing of AMP, who are one of the biggest insurance companies in the world. I, for one, will be keeping my business with them. Let's hope the financial markets pick up soon and hopefully Pearl will become strong again and we won't lose a long standing household brandname.
