If you're thinking of moving abroad, it's important that you get some good international health insurance. There are so many policies on the market that it can be extremely confusing, and I only needed insurance for one year, for my gapyear in Thailand, but I still wanted to make sure I would be safe if I fell ill or was injured. It was a great relief when I found www.phaexpat.com. They are an independant company that deal with many different insurers, some big names such as BUPA and other less well-known companies. I filled in a form on their website detailing where I was travelling to, for how long and the sort of plan I was looking for, and they e-mailed me back the next day with a few suitable plans for me to choose from. They did the hard work instead of me, so I didn't have to trawl through all the policies on the internet to find a suitable one, which was really helpful. All the details of their most popular plans are on the website, and you can also get a quote on there. I went for the budget plan in the end, which has basic cover at a low price, but there are also more comprehensive plans if that's what you need. The application form was also on the website to fill in and submit online, which saved time. PHA sorted it all out with the insurance company and let me know how my application was progressing, then about a week later I received the documents.
