Advantages: A warning

Disadvantages: Small print has to be read carefully

As a family we have belonged to WPA Medical Insurance for many years. I have a bad ongoing back problem with responds well to physiotherapy.However WPA have now said that they wont support the treatment of a condition unless it makes the condition better! So, I could have thousands spent on an operation to solve the problem and they would pay, but they won't pay out for the occasional physio session. Just read your small print carefully.

Also my daughter has an impacted canine tooth ...a phone call to WPA established that impacted was the important word and she was covered for the op. Nothing was confirmed in writing. Two days before the op they decided that it was only applicable to wisdom teeth. I successfully argued my case ...and the expenses are going to be covered. In their small print it doesn't mention wisdom and the person I spoke to at WPA cheerfully said this was a mistake on their part.

So, again, always get in writing what has been confirmed over the phone or at least the name of the person you spoke to.
