Wow, i was searching the internet for fitness programs, i am desperate to be thin, always have been. I came across 13 "Pro-ana" web sites. I've been annorexic i was less than 6 stone, not too bad but still bad. It took me along time to get beck back to a "normal" weight. Its a struggle all the time not to go back there. when i see these models that fill my magazines, when i see these actors on TV i want to scream "why am i so fat?" all i want is to be thin, and in my eyes beautiful. God knows how many girls are thinking about it, suffering with it or recovering from it. annorexia afffects the family too. And there on our internets are sites giving tips on how to be thin, how to stop the hunger pains. some even recomend starting smoking. These web site are available to everyone of every age. young vunerable girls getting information on how to get dangerously thin. Annorexia is addictive, and its always there in the back of your mind, i want to be thin.
I feel sick when i see these web sites. It corrupts the minds of children who are unbelievably vunerable. Tips on how to lose the most weight, tips on how to stop hunger pains, tips on how to conceal ur annorexia.
i was shocked as i read through the sites children as young as 11 are asking for information on how to be annorexic, and they are getting it. I cant even begin to think what damage that does to an 11 year old, physically, mentally or emotionally.
Why are these sites not banned, does no-one care except me?
Sometimes i wonder what happens to these kids, do they get help? is it just a phase and has it passed? are they dead?
People tend to forget that annorexia can and does kill.
What is the mentality of the people that allow this to continue? Who are these girl giving this information? do they not care what they are doing?
That is one of the problems with the internet - very few boundaries.
