This is a cough medicine which is made for chesty coughs. It is made by the well known company Benylin. They make all sorts of cough medicine for all different types of coughs. The chesty cough one that I bought was the non drowsy version. It is packaged in a cardboard box and is red in colour. The bottle itself is made from brown glass. It contains Guaifenesin and Levomenthol. There are clear usage instructions on the box and in the leaflet inside. Adults and children over 12 can take two 5ml spoons of this cough medicine up to four times per day. Children between 6 and 12 years old can take one 5 ml spoonful up to four times per day. It is not ... Read the complete review

Benylin Chesty Cough syrup won't make you drowsy and it is excellent for soothing those awful hacking coughs that seems to come in bouts and leave your eyes watering and your chest sore. This medicine is available without prescription from pharmacies and costs around £2.49 for a 150ml bottle, so it isn't cheap. The manufacturer, Pfizer, recommends it for the treatment of chesty, or productive coughs. It loosens phlegm and helps you to clear your airways. I find it particularly useful at bed time if I have a cough because it works right away. Adults and children over 12 can take two 5ml spoons of this cough medicine up to four times per ... Always one to try a new product especially when it’s of a very reputable brand I purchased one of the Benylin for Chesty Coughs Non Drowsy. Our family have been regular users of the Benylin product since my childhood days. At that time we used to purchase the syrup depending on the type of cough that had affected one of our family members. These were Benylin with Codeine, Benylin Expectorant and Benylin for children. So I had no hesitation in picking up the new Chesty Cough Non-Drowsy version. Before I go into my reaction to the product I would first like to provide you with a bit of information regarding the product itself. ... Read the complete review

That's it, the cold has moved on to my chest and it's a hacky, phlegmy, extremely irritating one. Having been using Beechams Flu Plus caplets, I wanted instant, soothing relief for my chesty cough so I popped down to the local Boots and opted for Benylin Chesty Cough, Non-Drowsy formula so that I could still carry on with my everyday tasks, apparantly the original formula can knock you out!! This is a pink syrup mixture, very sweet tasting so if you don't have a sweet tooth you may find the taste too sickly! The 300ml bottle as of November 2006 cost 5.69 at Boots. ************* What does it do? ************* It is used to ... Read the complete review

The name Benylin has always meant good quality to me, and when you're ill with a cough, it is the nicest sight you can see. As well as the non-drowsy version, they make an original version and also both versions for a tickly cough too. I have always used the original (drowsy) version in the past for chesty coughs and it always helped me to drift off to sleep comfortably. When I started working, I tried the non drowsy version throughout the day and found that it works almost as well. Unfortunately, removing the ingredient that causes the drowsiness apparently affects the effectiveness of the medecine, but I find that it is still superior to other ... Read the complete review
