Benylin Chesty Coughs Original

I have had a cough that has lasted for ages. I was put on anti biotics for a week, yet after that time I still had a cough and was still struggling to get much sleep as no matter how propped up I was going to sleep I would awake slumped down and the result was a massive coughing fit! I called NHS direct for advise. Without going into too much yukky details as the color of things had changed they said the bacterial infection had gone but I was still left with a lot of stuff that I needed to get a linctus to help get rid of. I bought two cough medicines within a period of two weeks - Benylin and Lemsip (both for chesty coughs) but one cost more that 70p more than the other - and the cheaper version appeared to work better. Benylin Chesty cough mixture was £3.39 from a local independent chemist. HYPE or FACT? On the bottle and box there are many claims from the manufacturers but are they factual or just hype?
